I was thinking of starting a NHL trivia thread and I came up with this question.
Who were the first 6 NHL teams in expansion in 1967-1968. If possible please do not cheat to make the answer easy. I guessed correct and then cheated to make sure I was correct.

I will give a CP to the first correct answer.

I tried to guess the six teams but then cheated to see if I was right and got two wrong.

I hope whoever answers all six correctly first doesn't look it up and cheat.

You are correct WTE and I am glad that you do not cheat. You have class for not doing so. It makes the questions more interesting. As for 1979 goes. :jawdrop: Don Cherry says in his excellent book he triple shifed Don Marcotte and because of that the line combos got messed up. As for being phantom, I do not think it was because on NESN recently they had a roundtable with Middleton, Cheevers and Dupont the wide angle shows 6 skaters for about 30 seconds and unfortunately it was the correct call.

In OT Don Marcotte had an excellent chance but the great Ken Dryden robbed him. This made 1988 all the sweeter (see my other thread if you like)

BTW nice Bruschi sig. I am looking forward to his book.

Hint on the question. The team was from out West

Interesting point on that too many men on the ice call. I was actually in bed listening to the game on my little transistor radio (I was 12 and shoulda been asleep)

The Bruins announcers on the radio went ballistic with the call and I wasn't able to get any sleep that night. To this day I have never seen the call on TV.

Team from the West?? Must be the Canucks.

Another good guess but no on the Canucks.

As for never seeing the call on TV, watch NESN with NESN retro (which is great BTW for the Bs and Red Sox) and you will see the call and maybe some other great (or no so great) Boston memories

Boston announcers going balllistic, that never happens  (Johhny Most comes to mind, as we all loved him :D ) As for the Bruins announcers it must have been Bob Wilson and Johnny Bucyk. On TV 38 which I recently saw the highlight it was Cuisick (the best btw) and Johnny Pearson. I miss these guys as Dale Arnold sucks and Brickley is okay. Bob Neiumeyer was pretty good on the radio for 5 years as well. D Gosher (spelling ) on WBZ is the best they have now

It is because, of Gordie, wanted to pay homage to him, but felt that he could not wear 9, so he did 99. Which enspired Mario flip 99 adn you get 66. Mario did it for the same reason Gretz did for Gordie...

Although in the long run the trade did not work for Edmonton it helped them win in 1990. South you are half correct. It was the Canadiens, but in 1976-1977. They were an incredible 60-8-12 for 122 points in only 80 games. They also beat our Bruins in the Final 4-0. :ugh:

Well, i'm not sure of the exact number, but I believe Gretzky is #2 and #3 on the list (in addition to being #1 with 215 points), and Mario in at #4.

I think Gretzky owns something like 7 or 8 of the top ten slots in regards to most points in a season.
