Well, Lebron is only in his third year so I don't know how you can make the comparison now but I'd go with Michael... :coffee:

I will say Lebron at this point! Hopefully LeBron can take it up even more levels like Jordan did.

I wish the Cavs luck in game 6 to win the series. :D

Well I didn't vote.
Michael Jordan was 3 times the player Lebron James is.

By the way, at this point in their career........Lebron is playing and Michael is retired.

Don't you think the LeBron hype is a bit excessive? I thought Kobe Bryant was being billed as "The Next Michael Jordan" until his trip to Colorado. At least he has 3 rings, was the NBA's leading scorer this year, and I think has a stronger claim to the "MJ" title than LeBron.

For easier comparison:

Jordan's 3rd year

Playoffs: lost to Boston, 3-0, first round

James 3rd year:

05-06 42.5 .480 .335 .738 .9 6.1 7.0 6.6 1.56 .84 3.29 2.30 31.4

Playoffs:

defeated Washington, 4-2, first round
lost to Detroit, 4-3, second round

I am going with MJ, MJ was the complete player.

Lebron is almost complete, his defense is a little shakey and his jumper isn't as deadly like Micheal Jordan's.

Jordan's jumper his third year was horrible. He had nothing outside of 15-18 feet. Anything closer, and he went airborne.

He was a slash-to-the-basket player at that time.

We are comparing each player's 3rd year, right?

No, we're comparing their first 3 years. Up to this point in their careers.

Lebron's first 3. MJ's first 3.

Which one would you rather have at this point in their careers?

At this point in their careers, I'd take MJ...at this AGE, I'd take Lebron....

It is kinda hard to compare each of their third years.

I wasn't even alive on Jordan's third year, but I compare Lebron with Jordan in his prime so it is kinda hard. :ugh:

Good question!!!

LeBron will be more mature at the age that Jordan was his third year. The NBA was more of a run and gun game back in the 80's, and defense is more prevalent in the Eastern Conference now a days (80-76 game scores).

And as much as I love Jordan (I have two rookie cards, numerous character shirts, the Mars Blackman posters) I'm going with King James. Sorry MJ......... :ugh:

Barring any serious injury, Lebron will be the best basketball player ever by the time he retires.

Based on the context of the question, I have to go with James. Now, if you wanted me to pick "who will have a better career, LJ or MJ?" I'd pick Jordan.

Well knowing what MJ is I would take MJ, its tough to answer this question objectively.

I think Michael Jordan is the best player ever and his competitiveness will never be matched. Lebrons teammates love him, Michaels teammates only respected him. Thats because when he lost or his teammates screwed up he would act like an *******. He wont be replaced.

MJ...

trusted and a far more skilled player.. with an aura....

LePansy... well i dont think he has that icredible aura that MJ did... LeBron is good... but not like best ever.. which MJ was by his 3rd year....

Well MJ was at UNC at this time but after 3 years of the NBA LeBron is doing quite better so i would pick him as of right now, this assuming i dont know what MJ will do already

I am sick of people comparing these guys. Its not even close. When people ask who the best basketball player ever was, there is no hesitation in saying Michael Jordan. I am not saying Lebron isn't good because he is. But he isn't even close to Michael Jordan.

MJ only because I know the outcome.....he he he
I was going to say that too.....

In all honesty, and it pains me to say this since I idolized Jordan growing up, Lebron
is the more well rounded mature player at this point in his 3rd year in so far.

However, Jordan really didn't have the talent around him either that James does
now. That Bulls team when Jordan was drafted absolutely sucked!

One other thing: Jordan sat out nearly an entire 2nd season with an ankle injury...so
that skews his stats over his frst 3 years.

I watched James this playoffs and was really impressed. He seemed to carry them alot. Haven't seen MJ before his last 3 seasons so I can't compare. We will see what happens to James the next two years, he alone can't win it all, even MJ couldn't could he ?

How isnt he close to MJ?

Look at stats listen to anylist....heck just watch him play.

When he wants to he can score at will, and he can include his teamates like a PG. Just like MJ. If he can get a team as good as MJ's Bulls he will go down as the Best B- ball player of all time but that Bulls team was offely good

No true player starts the season saying " I want to lead the league in ppg. or steals. or triple doubles this season." MJ has a ring for every finger on his right hand and one to spare. Mr. Michael Jeffrey Jordan, hands down.

Rings are everything. You are 100% correct...... but the question was "who would you rather have at this point in their career?" It wasn't asking who you would rather build a franchise around, simply after three years into their career who do you want.

For the purpose of the question, you can't consider Jordan's rings. All you can consider are his first 3 seasons. It's still a tough call but don't base your reasoning on what Jordan did afterwards....

Give Lebron the best Rebounder in the game(rodman), another great scorer (Pippen), and a huge clutch big 3 point guy (Kukoc) and see how many rings he gets :coffee:

Players on different teams cant be judged by team success it has to be by individule play, AKA stats :duh:

LeBron hasn't proven he can make a clutch shot consistently. Michael Jordan is the king of clutch. Answer me this - Your team's down by 1 with six seconds to go, who do you want to take the last shot, LeBron or MJ?

He has been in the NBA for three years and is breaking records left and right. According to Mike and Mike.

Jordan, for the fact that his career has been defined after his third year, whereas Lebron's is not.

I'd take Jordan for his defense. I am too biased for Michael's entire career to look at simply his first three.

I didn't take the time to really read the question.
