I'm just curious as to what all of you have to say on the subject.
I would have to say, "Johnny Got His Gun" made in 1971, the movie gained popularity afterwards for being featured in the Metallica Song "One".
The film is about a young lad who goes off to fight in World War I. In the war he is severely injured and loses both his arms, and his legs. As well as severe facial damage that has caused him to lose his ears (ability to hear) and his voice. So, he is stuck in a hospital and is there with nobody to talk to and nobody to understand what he is going through - eventually he is able to communicate with those around him by turning to Morse Code by pounding his head on his pillow.

"grave of the fireflies" (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/grave_of_the_fireflies/) - focuses entirely on a subject often forgotten in war movies - the regular people who get caught between government conflicts. very sad. highly recommended.

Saving Private Ryan. I say this is an anti war movie because it revolves around a family who has lost a lot of the family members to war.

It's not a book or a movie....
But Z-Trips' "Anti War Mix" is great!!!
He did it right before the last election to try to get George Dumbya out of office.
If you want to check it out, go to www.djztrip.com and click on the "old mixes" link, next click on the "downloads" link, scroll down til you see "Z-Trips anti war mix @ the rootdown."
ENJOY!
PEACE!!!

The Battle of Algiers is a great war movie, and tons of comparisons can be drawn between it and the current day situation between Palestine and Israel.
My fav. anti-war book is "All Quiet on the Western Front'. Anyone who hasn't read it, should.

Gotta agree with you on your book selection. It's been a while since I read it, but it defninitely gives you a different perspective on things.
There was a movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078753/) made of it in 1979 too. Haven't seen it, but I'd like to.

I've seen the movie..years ago though..maybe in 8th grade? It's good, but i think the book is better.
