Gears of War...

How many of you that own a 360 are going to be picking this game up? I know I will be and most likely Call of Duty 3 as well. Both of these games look amazing, Gears of War especially. I just wish I didn't have to pay this speeding ticket so I could get both at once :(

I plunked down $40 on a pre-order a few months back. Hope I can find the recipt. This is a game that I'll have to keep hidden from the wife and kids though...:D

I'm gonna wait for more reviews but Str8's review has given me the urge big time. I'm all over the new Tony Hawk but from what I've been told, Gears is supposed to be awesome. I hope the online play is as good as the trailors I've seen.

After playing it for 10 hours online, I now realize this is the best game that has come out in the last 5 or so years. It is a MUST buy. I'm ranked in the top 50 already.

I think the blood is suppose to be more dingy then pure red. As for gameplay its suppose to shine in Multiplayer as for most shootergames its all about decimating your opponets then objectives. If you want a story play an RPG. If you want a shooter play Halo 2 or Gears of War. I think Gears of war is one up over Halo 2 IMO and the mechanics of the game are spectacular.

Actually, I'm most impressed with the gameplay. It's nice to play a game that 5 year old kids can't get on and instantly be good at it. Maybe you should play it some more (online?).

Excellent game, plays the way shooters ought to play, but I don't know if I think it's GotY-quality yet. The mechanics are fun, but they're not truly innovative.

All the same, it's been a blast so far and it's probably going to take me awhile to beat. I decided to jump right into Hardcore, and it's definitely been a challenge. Just hope I can get through it before the school year's out so I'll be ready to play through it on Insane with one of my friends over winter break.

After further play, I think I might have been wrong to say there was nothing particularly innovative about this game. The cover system doesn't feel innovative, but that's just because it's so intuitive and easy to use. I'm only just beginning to understand what a great job they did with it.

The DS has made Nintendo Tons of money and continues to in America and Japan. And the Wii....hell I can't even find a place that will take pre-orders.....it's like they even sold out of freaking pre-orders! Apparently it has the most ineractive and fun control system out there. For pure game play I don't think nintendo can be beat.

Anyways, gears of war was fun.....I would buy it but I wont call it game of the year yet. The graphics were awesome.....and the mechanics were easy to get a hang of and some what entertaining. I'd rate it a 8 of 10

Hey kid, I'm not an optmisitc Nintendo fan. I'm a business man. If Sony was going to throw down on Microsoft and Nintendo, I would have bought 10,000 Sony shares in a heartbeat.

It amuses me that you consider myself a "fan." I'm not a fan. I own a X-Box 360 and I will own a Wii and a PS3.

I'm just trying to make money, and it will take years for Sony to recover from the travesty of the PS3.

Travesty Number 1: Not releasing the PS3 in Europe in time for Christmas.
Travesty Number 2: Horrible E3 press conference. (After watching it, my Japanese branch broker called me and was laughing so hard he couldnt speak. What I could understand was "Sell!" "Sell!"
Travesty Number 3: Admitting that their gimmicky "tilt" controller is a copy of the Wii's (sintaxis I believe its called)
Travesty Number 4: Never installing a effective platform to combat X-Box Live.
Travesty Number 5: Letting Grand Theft Auto go dual system. Absolutely insane. Grand Theft Auto is one of the few games that in quality and prestige can influence Hollywood. Instead, they gave it to Microsoft. No need to buy a PS3 for GTA anymore.
Travesty Number 6: Goodbye Assasin's Creed. Same story. Same ending.
Travesty Number 7: Letting Square Enix do what ever the hell they want. Now Final Fantasy will be on the 360, the Wii, the PS3, and the PC, DS, and PSP. Theres even rumors that Kingdom Hearts will go multi system.
Travesty Number 8: Letting Mircosoft target PC developers. (Lionhead is now Gate's property and Bioware is 360 only.)


But they're not. Not even close. The PSP has been trounced by the DS worldwide. In Japan, sales for the DS have already surpassed the GameCube in two years, opposed to the 5 the GameCube has had. Sales for Brain Age Training for Adults and New Super Mario Bros combined have outsold Halo 2, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and Grand Theft Auto.

Worse, Sony never counteracted X-Box Live, and Live getting support from CBS, Fox, NBC, and ABC this Fall on Marketplace will allow TV shows to join in the fray with a system like ITunes. Nintendo spent $11 million for the Opera Browsing system, which is pure brilliance because folks can browse the web on their Wii.

Nintendo, also after receving my strongly worded letter regarding the lack of third party support in the GameCube, went out and inked Red Steel for $34 million from UbiSoft and FarCry for another $17.

Best of all, Nintendo's kid image, and out of the box thinking, will help them huge this holliday season. The Wii, with mostly kid friendly games, and activitiy using the Wiimote will dispell the gamer sterotype. The 360 has Gears of War, Call of Duty 3 (As does the Wii and PS3, I admit), and plenty of AAA titles.

What does the PS3 have that gamers want? Resistance Fall of Man? Call of Duty 3? Madden 07? NBA 07? Excluding Resistance, all of thos games appear on other systems.

Admittedly, Metal Gear Solid looks fantastic as always, but even more fantastic is the series creators excitement for the Wii.

Best of all, the Wii will have people get off their asses and MOVE. Watch the E3 press conference of the Nintendo brass playing tennis. It takes EFFORT.

Nintendo is going for the whole pie. They want everybody. And not everybody wants to sit on their butt and blow holes in aliens. Some might want to conduct an orchetra, or swing a sword, or a swing a baseball bat (At a ball, not a cop ;)


Sony has lost Europe, they are losing Japan, they will lose the US, and they will lose the console "war"

Just so you know, GC, I'm not trying to convince you to not to buy the PS3. Just dont expect me to buy into Sony's dominance this go-round, because its not going to happen.

Keep in mind....xbox didnt even exist till the PS2 generation. As a consumer I honestly think Xbox is winning the "war". They have a large selection of great exclusive titles, a head start on the latest generation of gamers, a more developed online system (yes because it costs money they can afford to develop it more) a very wide selection of accessories to market and the largest 3rd party support of console accessories to date. I honestly think this generation of consoles will be a big risk to sony but also highly rewarding if it works out. We shall see.

Sony's online platform doesnt cost money: Exactly. It doesnt cost money. Therefore, I wont be able to download my favorite TV shows, watch music videos, play Arcade games, download content for my system, or watch trailers.

Sony has actually doubled the revenue of the other systems, but this is somewhat misleading because, like the X-Box 360, the PS2 was released nearly a year ahead of the GameCube and X-Box, giving it a fair headstart.

Also, for this go around Sony will not have Rockstar and Square as exclusive contributors, which might be preventable, had Rockstar not pledged GTA IV to the 360 as well, and Square dealing out content to all 5 main systems.

Finally finished the game on Hardcore difficulty on Black Friday. (Either then or Saturday, it's been hard to tell the days apart over Thanksgiving break.) The end boss is one tough nut to crack.

It does. And it is. I just beat it, and it is just the best shooter iv ever played. a little short and the story kinda made me go like "what the Hell???" a couple times, but the gameplay, grapghics, sound and overall feel of the game is top notch.

Yeah, I thought about bringing in a ringer to help me beat him in co-op, but I decided that if I had gotten that far in single-player I was darned well going to finish it.

It's tougher when you have to deal with the AI Dom dying almost immediately, and I had to sprint all the way down the train car and back before it was all over, but some quick switching between torque bow, sniper rifle, and grenades got it done.

What I like to do is use the torque bow to scare away the Kryll, and then unleash hell with the Lancer, but that's cause I don't have a steady shot with the sniper. I'm more of a move around, open fire guy.

well i filed a request with CC to get a box so i can send in my 360 and they send a gift card for the same amount of a 360 so i can just go buy a brand new one.....what.......4 weeks ago? and i still havent gotten it..........
