View Full Version : Let's declare the next 24 hours mod appreciation day and give all CP do mods

Ok, I thought about this after reading this "Moderator Appreciation thread" (http://forums.denverbroncos.com/showthread.php?t=76478) that 16MileHigh87 posted in the Organge Colored Glasses forum.

While I have no official power to do so, I would like to declare the next 24 hours as Mod Appreciation day, and would like to ask everyone to join me in ONLY giving CP to mods over the next 24 hours. I suggest 24 hours, since you are limited in how many CP you can give in a 24 hour period, and by only giving CP to mods over the next 24 hours or so, you should be able to give CPs to 5 mods.

The mods volunteer their time to keep this place enjoyable for all of us. Many of us  have gotten carried away at times, and generally get a friendly :nono: from our mods, while they clean up the posts we know we should never have posted in the first place.

On game day when there are 40, 50, 60 or more threads started, many of which have the exact same subject, they spend hours merging threads so that the forum is an easier place to navigate.

They do all of this to make Broncomania a more enjoyable place, and get nothing in return.

So, PLEASE join me in ONLY giving CP to mods over the next 24 hours. Show them how much we appreciate them.

Sorry, I didn't know about the Christmas CPing tradition, LOL. Is that a Cafe thing?

Anyway, if you are CPng presents, then you choose the day you would like, but I still suggest that you reserve one 24 hour limit, and your CP quota for that period, just for mods, whether it is the next 24 hours or next week.

See how thoughtful the mods are, LT is even in here saying give the CPs to others for Christmas, rather than to him...

No, I don't remember it but you got good taste . I really like yours. When we were doing adapt a cheerleader I was sitting front of the computer for hours trying to figure out if I wanted mine or yours. I ended up pulling names out of a hat and she was who I got. How do you get the picture to change everytime I refresh the page?

Edit: I REALLY like the swimsuit picture. :O

I picked Miss Kainer not for her stunning good looks, but because in her bio she said that she really liked golf and mentioned Michelle Wie. Being a golf nut, that sealed the deal. The fact she is pretty darn cute sort of helped.

How do you get the picture to change everytime I refresh the page?

Well what Domostick said is actually pretty close to what I am doing, BUT, last week Executioner asked me to help him setup a rotating image for his sig, and since not everyone has their own website and PHP scripts, I setup a place on broncos07.com where people can register (free of course) and upload pictures, and I put the script to create the random image generator.

Anyway, you can see what it does and see how to get one (it is very simple and only takes a couple minutes to get going) here: http://forums.denverbroncos.com/showthread.php?t=79867

All I ask in return if you want to use the service is, well nothing actually :D. Just trying to help out my fellow Broncomaniacs.

Oh just have a server with php and then run a little image script. Simple.

LOL, yes, that is normally the way, but I have now setup some image gallery software on my website where other people can register, upload pictures to their own gallery and I am setting up the PHP script for them.

Another reason I was thinking about picking her was because her bio said she was a software engineer. I thought that was interesting because I usually don't see to many woman who have a career in IT or engineering. Me myself I'm a computer networking person and don't see to many woman in the field. Good for her for going against the norm. :salute:

Yes, I noticed that too. Not exactly the stereotype for cheerleaders. I dabble in programming, networking, etc., since I oversee that department at work (6 programmers and 4 network/help desk guys), but I woudln't really say that is my career.

Can I make a suggestion?

Give them to;

Elway
Asian Orange
Javalon
Jared

These Supermods do the vast majority of the work around here. THEY are the one's who really keep this place cleaned up.

Not to take anything away from LT, Owl, or BFI. They each contribute alot also.

But Elway and Asian are the one's who keep gamedays under control here. Javalon is always on duty, and probably does more than the rest of us combined. He's a regular dynamo. And Jared is an original mod, like Elway and Asian, who lost lost of points during a rest of the CP system a few week back. They lost the 500 points they started with. Catch them back up please.

Lastly, Admin is the reason we all have this place to play to begin with. He's the reason we are all even here at all. The guy works tirelessly to make this place what it is, has been , and will be. And is my favorite employee in the organization. And I know a LOT of them!

Dont ignore him. Admin is the man here. He may have the little red box, like I do, but the scale is still there for you to click, and I urge you all to give him the credit he deserves, and click that thing. Further, everytime you feel happy you have this place to chat, he deserves a CP hit.

Also, dont forget past mods! Bronx, LBD, and most of all Summerz. Summerz and Bronx also lost those 500 points. But not just that. They also helped make this place what it is. Summerz worked here tirelessly during her tour of duty, and deserves far more credit than she ever got for it all.

I also want to metion there are two new mods many are not aware of.

16milehigh87 and Ciniminuminuminum (did I spell that right?)

These guys are the now mods for the chat room here. They are going to be extremely busy helping to keep this website a clean place. These boards are only a part of the whole site, and the chats are another. They get really bad, especially during games, and these two will give up a lot more than I think they expect monitoring those chats during games. They should be included in this as much as any other mod.

Merry Christmas all!

well like the guy above stated, Id rather give a CP out in regards to a discussion. why do you guys covet CPs so badly? i mean some of you wear your CPs like a badge. i have given many mods CPs but id rather do it based upon their level of discussion...not just because its annual CP day.

in regards to the mods, yeah they do a good job and i am happy for them but they VOLUNTEERED to do it! most mods have so many CPs that it would take years and years to get so why are you so concerned with CP?

like i said before...not really acknowledging the "teachers pet" assessment but maybe you started this thread to in fact draw CPs for yourself...

It's your perogative to assume I am anything but sincere with my suggestion to show the mods we appreciate their efforts by sending them CP.

It's your perogative to choose not to do so.

It's even your perogative to correct my spelling if I spelled perogative wrong, because I am too lazy (or possibly to distracted by my obsession with CP) to check the spelling on it.

like i said before...not really acknowledging the "teachers pet" assessment but maybe you started this thread to in fact draw CPs for yourself...It's your prerogative to give out CPs to who you want. Tn suggested giving it out to the mods because they do a lot for this board (for free). They merge endless threads, keep the forums spam free, hate free, and troll free. What more can you ask of them?

As far as Tn doing this as a ploy to obtain more CPs. Puhlease.... he's just showing some respect to the mods which we all "should".

actually bro, 75% of my CPs usually go to someone that started a good thread or to someone that made a valid point. sometimes people are funny or have a funny sig and i also will give a CP for that. i NEVER said mods dont deserve CPs i just i prefer giving it in a differant way....and usually the ones that start interesting threads ARE mods and thats why they already have so many CP...because people actually like their topics of discussion...but do you think its fair when all mods are going to recieve a hayday of CPs??? i dont....because some mods work harder than other and there isnt really a way to determine the ones that do...

That's the thing Den...your not supposed to know who works "harder" and who doesnt. The board runs smoothly, and that's all that really counts. The times when you dont see a mod in action...those are the best times on the board.

If you don't like the idea, then don't do it. Your choice, obviously.

I will admit to being surprised by some of the responses to this thread, including the 'they volunteered' remarks, but each to their own.

All I ask is that do it or don't do it, but let's make sure that this thread doesn't become one of the ones where the 'volunteers' have to 'do' something.

I did not mean for the word "volunteer" to be a degrading remark. My meaning was they were volunteered and stepped up to the plate to do a job on a board that i wouldn't want to do and don't have time to do and where they don't get paid or kickbacks! It's an admirable thing to do and they deserve recognition, because this is one of the best ran boards out there.

My meaning was they were volunteered and stepped up to the plate to do a job on a board that i wouldn't want to do and don't have time to do and where they don't get paid or kickbacks! It's an admirable thing to do and they deserve recognition, because this is one of the best ran boards out there.

Nomad, just to let you know, my post that include the 'volunteer' comments was not aimed at you. In addition to this thread, there is a similar one in the locker room forum, and there have been a number of posts indicating that the mods don't deserve thanks, because they volunteered for the job, which I believe was expressing a different sentiment than your posts.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear that up.

hey guys im not trying to start some argument...just wanted to share my point of view. you can agree or disagree thats what make these boards so great.

That's what's great about places like this. The ability to freely express your opinion, whether popular or not. If we all agreed on every subject, it would likely be a boring community.

Hey guys, I posted this thread because it was something "I" decided to do, and "I" thought I would share the idea with others.

 :salute:

Kind of sad that some have to use something started in good spirit to whinge!

It's all good, no hard feelings, Tned!

Arapaho, IMO, everyone should sign their CP's especially a negative, that's wrong and whoever it was is a coward for not facing you with it, it may not have been a Mod.

Merry Christmas everyone and here's  to a BRONCOS win today!

The mods are not the only ones with the ability to give Negative CP. It might have been a mod, it might have been someone else who felt your post deserved negative CP.

I don't think a Mod would have left it unsigned, Rap.

But this is why I was against the ability to give out neggies, EXCEPT for Mods . . . and
I was against it as the first non-Mod who could give them. At least, it should have
been reserved for All-Pros, and even later.

Oh well . . . too late now. We gotta live with it now.

I wish they would just get rid of cp's all together, JMO.
Then people can focus on more important things like the basics.

how do you know it was a mod who gave you the neggie? There are others on here that can do that, that aren't mods...

Well considering I think I have something like 3 posts in the Cafe and over 7,000 posts elsewhere, I don't think I have received any from the Cafe. Regardless, what I suggested to do for the mods is in no way similar to what you refer to as "casually tossing them around in the cafe thread."

Anyway, rest assured if or when I receive the ability to give out neggies, and if I choose to give someone a neggie, they will know it is from me.

Well, I believe I have hit all the mods up. There are a couple that it is telling me I need to spread around some CP prior to giving to them again, but I am not 100% sure if the CP I gave them was for a post, prior to deciding to do this, or if it was my thank you CP. Either way, i think I have given all mods + Admin CP in the last 36+ hours.

Once again, :salute: to all of you for making this an enjoyable place to hang out, wich I could buy you all a .
