TJ Duckett likely won't be re-signed by the Redskins this off season.

He's 26 in February so has plenty of miles left on the clock and could be the short yardage/ power back that we need.

His 32 career TD's in 64 games is an impresive strike rate.

He's certainly been frustrated by a lack of carries in Washington but a move to Denver IMO, is a very good option to consider.

Is this a possibility? what do people think about Duckett?

Here's a good article I found about him;

No I do not what him. I prefer Mike Bell.

Duckett is a bust. Good goal line back, but definitely not up to his first round pedigree. Hopefully Denver goes after a dominant back, not saying a current one, but one that can be.

Not going to be resigned, eh?

And we hath robbed the redskins once more.

We get likely, a good DT from our third round pick, albeit a talented one that may drop like Marcus Thomas, and a fourth next year.

The Redskins get a rarely used RB, and like I said before the trade, they already had Ladell Betts who was perfectly fine, see his numbers if you don't believe me now.

And now the only minor retribution they get is going to slip away?

Dan Snyder, you got robbed. :fight:

They can keep him, not nearly fast enough to work for our system.

No, he sux. There's a reason Washington isn't playing him, and I just stated it.

You sum it up yourself.

They have Betts and also Rock Cartwright to back up Portis.

Washington have a history of throwing away draft picks so the 3rd rounder they gave for Duckett is not a big surprise.

It seems he's unpopular - oh well, I thought I'd put it out there. I still think his goal line TD ability is worth considering. (a strike rate of 1 TD every 2 games)

No Shi* Sherlock.

What are the chances of that though?

I would like him on a small deal. He's big, powerful, and has had immense success in the red-zone and in short yardage situations.

He could be my complimentary back any day...

I say we pick him up, then trade him to the Redskins for a draft pick

I would love if the Falcons pulled an Oakland-Gabriel-New-England type deal.

That would be gold that Snyder couldn't put in the bank.

My guess is that the Broncos don't want him. They could have traded Lelie straight up for Duckett but opted for the 3-way deal that netted them some draft picks instead.

I don't have a problem with him but there have to be better options out there.

I said it before I'll say it again. The Redskins need to go ahead and get a GM. Dan Snyder obviously has no problem opening up his checkbook so why not open it up for a GM.

Sounds good, but Dan Snyder is in a competiton with Al Davis and Jerry Jones for most delusional owner in the league. Don't expect anything even vaguely resembling rationality from Redskin land. :goofy:

The question isn't whether he'd be worth bringing in for a look. The question is "For how cheaply can he be had?"

If his contract is small enough, he'd be a decent option to compete with our current backs.

TJ Duckett was terrible in a system that is molded directly off Denver's scheme. He isn't a one cut runner at all, and he averaged 3.1 yards a carry in his final year in Atlanta, when they had the league's best running attack. He would be nothing more then a goal line back in Denver, and that's a big if also.

This statement confuses me

I thought that a clock was how we kept track of time...

...and...

I thought that an odometer kept track of miles...

The one thing I can say for Duckett is that he's a power back that actually runs like a power back. I say bring him in and give him a shot. Give him an incentive-laden deal near league minimum that allows us to cut him if he doesn't perform up to par. It can't hurt. He's big, powerful, experienced, and doesn't get injured. Why not try him out?

You have to give Shanahan that much...

The problem with that is; will teams want to deal with Shanahan anymore?

Btw, Duckett is kinda like a tall Ron Dayne isn't he? With a little more power, a little more speed?

Maybe he's not like him at all!?!

Don't forget less injuries. Duckett also uses his size to his advantage. he doesn't shy away from contact and dance around like a scatback. Duckett knows what he is and is relatively good at what he does.

Ya know...Just as long as he doesn't trip over his own feet like Tatum, I'm open to signing him.

I haven't watched the guy since college, so I'll take myself outta the discussion.

i'd like duckett if we can get him for a low price. good short yardage back would really improve our running game

I wouldn't mind bringing in TJ Duckett if we do so only for a short yardage back. The kind of contract he wants will probably determine if we get him or not. Seeing that our O-line is geared towards speed having a big power back like Duckett wouldn't hurt us at all, but give us a chance to run the ball on 3rd and short when the D knows its coming.

How about we pick up duckett and trade him to the falcons, they send mike vick to the redskins (since he is a "coach killer") and the Redskins send us their 2nd round this year and a 3rd rounder next?

Hmm sounds plaussible. The Falcons can reunite with a RB they think will be good since they dropped the Denver Running Scheme, and the Redskins get a Qb that they think can throw, and they give us some draft picks! HEY I LIKE IT!

The best part of all is that the Falcons and the Redskins might be stupid enough to fall for it. :D

The only reason i would want us to sign Duckett is if we traded him off lol. No more RBBC, give me one franchise back with a reliever in Mike Bell and i will be happy. :salute:
