I really feel for you all.. I seriously could not handle a Charger player being lost in such unfortunate circumstances... RIP Williams, never thought I'd say this, but it's a shame I won't be seeing you intercepting any Philip River passes in the future. You were a great player!

I'm one of the moderators on the Chargers message boards. I've posted in a couple of other threads here about Darrent, but I want to again express our condolences to the Bronco organization, to Darrent's family and friends, and to you Bronco fans.
We share a great rivalry, and this is something that effects every fan ... no matter what team they root for.
Here's to seeing the scumbags brought to quick, and harsh justice. This is senseless, and I hope these vermin are taken off the streets for good.
Stay strong, Broncos fans. We'll miss seeing Darrent in your lineup next year. He was a gamer.

Yeah, it's a sad day here in Denver. Not only did we choke and let a division rival take our spot in the playoffs, we lost a player for good. Makes the loss seem very minor now. RIP Darrent. Go Chargers now. Make the AFC West proud.

I just woke up and heard the news about Darrent on ESPN. My deepest sympathies go out to Darrent's family, the Broncos organization, and all his fans. I hope the criminals are found quickly so some justice can be served even though nothing can replace his loss to those close to him.
As another football fan I was just shocked and saddened when I heard about this. Take care Bronco fans.

The game is just that....a game. Rivalry aside for today while we remember a talented young man killed in his prime. A senseless and tragic act. My condolences to the DWill's family, the Broncos organization and thier fans.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the whole fan thing....The W is everything. Live and Die by our teams etc. that we forget that in the end it is a distant second to so many other things in life that are far more important.

Condolences from the Chiefs as well. Waking up this morning elated (and hung over) and to hear that this happened... It really has me jarred and upset. Those who keep talking about how something like this puts things into perspective are absolutely right. Much sympathy for his family, especially his two kids, who have to start the new year without their daddy. :ugh:

By all the accounts I have read Darrent was good a young man.
Condolences to both Darrent's and Bronco's families. Speedy recovery to those who were shot inside the limo and survived.
R.I.P.
Very sorry to wake up and hear your teams loss this morning.
It would seem Darrnet was thinking ahead of time in hiring a limo for the night and not putting himself or anyone else in danger if a night of drinking had occurred. For this to happen just makes no sense.
Thoughts and prays to his family and all of you Broncos fans.

I agree. We are all fans and rivals but these times we pull together because we forget sometimes that the people in those uniforms are human beings. No one ever wants anyone dead. Yes we joke before gametime about how our players will injure other players with big hit and such but not ever dead.
DW was a good CB. Has alot of talent. It's times like these we forget about football and just look at the bigger picture.
I know this is somewhat hypocritical, but trust me and all the classy Charger fans here that we'll show them hell in playoffs. And bring pride to the AFC West.
And, RIP Darrent Williams

wow. what else can be said. I woke up this morning and I hear this. What a way to start the new year. Truely senseless crime. No matter what happens, taking a life is not the answer!
Williams was a very very very good player, but football comes secondteer what happened. I was really looking forward to watching Williams becoming a big time player. My condolences to everyone that has ever met the man and to everyone that his presence impacted their lives.
It's funny, I'm watching the 9er-Bronco game on my tivo just to get a glimpse of Darrent. Next year my second favorite team will be the Broncos. I will root for you in all but 2 games next year. And if you go to the superbowl I will cheer for you to win in the memory of your fallen teammate.

As a Charger fan I had to register on the Broncos message board so that I could offer my sincerest regrets to the Broncos and their fans. It breaks my heart to see such a young talent gone like that. Football just seems so trivial on a day like today. I'll always remember that smile on Sunday night football during the introductions where he says "Darrent Williams, Oklahoma State." I know how strong the Broncos and their fans are. You guys will come back from all of this.

I want to offer my thoughts and prayers, and let all the Bronco fans know that as fans, we are all united by our love for the game and its players. A tragedy like this hits everyone hard, regardless of which team we root for. It really shows what's important. To see such a great young talent taken so early is truly a shame. I didn't know much about Williams as a person, but from what everyone has said, it sounds like he was a fine young man too. Even more of a shame.
Charger fans went through similar sick feelings with the news of Steve Foley being shot earlier this year, but of course, his injuries were not life threatening. I can only imagine how tough this is on the Bronco players, coaches, and fans...and obviously, Williams' family.
Here's wishing that something positive comes from this senseless tragedy. :salute:

As a longtime Charger fan let me first express how much I love lurking in your forum. I spend a lot of time reading what you guys have to say. I respect your knowledge and passion for the Broncos.
What happened to Darrent is extremely sad. I feel for his family and everyone close to him. I always thought he was a great kid, and had a lot of potential. Has anyone else heard the extent of injuries to the other two people that were admitted to the hospital? Their wounds may be lesser but they also went through this act of random violence. Also, was Javon Walker in the vehicle at the time of the shooting?

I tried to post this hours ago but there's so many people here.
I woke up today feeling good that it's a new year. But one of the first things I see is the news that Darrent Williams was shot and killed. That ruined my whole day.
I remember him picking off a Rivers pass and returned it for a touchdown. And I thought he was a good player.
I never want to see good people, great players, end up like this.

I want to offer my condolences to Darrent's Family, the Broncos Organization and to all the Broncos Fans. This is such an unspeakable and senseless act. I can not fathom why people do these kinds of things. I truly hope the person/people responsible is/are caught and punished to the full extent to the law. The Denver/San Diego rivalry is one of the best in the league so to hear of the loss of one of your best, deeply saddens me. My sister is a Bronc fan and we traveled together from NC to San Diego for the Dec 10th game. She told me she was so proud to be a Broncos fan.

I am a San Diego Chargers fan. I got this news really late...
I was busy all day and then I come home to turn on Sportscenter with this news.
I feel as a rival in the AFC West I have had a chance to see this guy play a lot and knew of his abilities over most players in the NFL.. Especially on the defensive side. I can picture the interception in the endzone from not too long ago.
It's sad to work so hard for a dream and then have it all gone in one evening. I always considered Denver to be a really safe place to live and it only shows what can happen when you are at the wrong place at the wrong time.
I really wanted Denver to make it into the playoffs this year and was rooting for you guys to win Sunday. Hopefully next year we will see you in the playoffs.
I am truely sad about this news and don't even know how to respond. I can't imagine what it's like to people that are close to him.
