1. Find and bring to justice the cowards who killed D. Williams. I want those bastards to hang for their actions. Is there a more cowardly act than a drive by shooting? Those guys...whoever they are are little *****es. Little *****es who have to hide behind a gun because they can't handle there business man to man. I think there sentence should include lining them up and giving each of D. Will's family members and teammates one ***** slap each. Not a punch but an openhanded ***** slap because that is what they are....*****ES. With that said....everything else in this post takes a back seat to this item.
2. Find a defensive coordinator who knows how to pressue the QB and isn't afraid to play to win....instead of playing not to lose. Jerry Gray would be a nice...nice hire...IMO.
3. Trade Tatum Bell.....he just isn't that good. I know our OL doesn't help him much but that doesn't excuse the costly fumbles........ T. Bell is unreliable and M. Bell proved to me this season that he is the better of our two Bells.
4. Trade Jake Plummer......just get what you can. Then sign a veteran FA QB to back up Jay.
5. Trade Foster..........God he is brutal.
Free Agents I'd like to get.
1. Dwight Freeney - We need a player with his ability to get to the QB more than anything else.
2. Michael Turner - A RB that can get 2-3 yards when needed is a must. Turner would really be an upgrade from Tatum and he and M. Bell would be a nice 1-2. Best thing is he is a one cut runner and that is what our offense requires from our RB.
3. Help the OL.....whoever. This was the worst line we have had in a long time.
Mistakes made......
1. Letting Mike Anderson get away. We really missed him this year.
2. Defensive scheme. We must get away from the "Bend but don't break" philosophy. Our DT's are undersized and get zero push to move the pocket. We need to size up on the DL and implement a pressure scheme. We let teams "dink and dunk" down the field hoping for a penalty or turnover. That works against the Clevelands and Oaklands of the NFL but the Colts and Chargers just don't make those types of mistakes often enough to justify this kind of play. As long as we play this style...Peyton Manning and any other good QB will beat us......take that to the bank.
3. Waiting until week 11 to start Cutler. I understand why but if we made this move earlier we would be traveling to New England next weekend. However, would have been hard to justify with a 7-2 record for Jake. Even though our D was winning those games.
4. Drafting Foster. He was a wiff.......time to cut bait and move on.
Positives - reasons to be excited about next season....
1. Champ Bailey.....one of the top 3 players in the league today.
2. Jay Cutler - is getting better each game. He is the real deal. Possible Pro-Bowler next year.
3. Javon Walker - easily a top 10 receiver in the league with a QB who can now let him stretch the field.
4. Scheffler - I love him. He is exactly what we need at TE.
5. Ian Gold, D.J. Williams and Al Wilson.......mabe the best group of LB's in the game.
6. Mike Shannahan....still one of the best minds in football.

I agree! Our defensive scheme sucked. We need a new D coordinator and a new d line that can cause qb pressure. The linebackers and secondary can do some serious damage with qb pressure.

The ravens have the best linebackers in the league and ours are seriously overrated.

Our LB's would be much improved with a DL who can actually keep the OL off of them and allow them to flow to the ball.
Not to mention how much better our DB's would be if they didn't have to cover for 4-5+ seconds every time the opposing QB drops back to pass.
Our problems on Defense start with a totally unproductive DL.....period. We fix this problem and you will see dramatic improvment from the seven other guys on the defense.

Given recent events the team is going to need secondary help. I think Foxworth is going to have to go back to corner leaving the safety position wide open. After you solve that problem the team needs to look real hard at both OL and DL. Dwight Freeney is a Pipe dream. The Colts won't let him go. More realisticly the Titans will probably cut bait with Albert Haynesworth and the Eagles will probably part ways with Javon Kearse. Offensively yes Tatum did have some fumble problems late in the year but so many of you are writing him off so fast. Of course people do that with everyone that makes mistakes on the team. Everyone was saying Lynch needed to retire until he made the Pro-Bowl. I think it's funny how everyone wants to write off Tatum yet everyone wants Rod Smith remain a starter despite declining numbers and an obvious lost step or two. I love Rod but he's getting old. With all that being said I'll get to my wishlist. Keep in mind I'm trying to stay realistic. I think the Raiders are going to part ways with a lot of players in house cleaning manuevers. Just a thought any way here we go.
1. A DT that can make a push and collapse the middle of the pocket. Possibly Haynesworth. (Yes he's a Pain in the butt but I think Shanny could fix that).
2. A DE with both strength and speed from the edge. Like I said J. Kearse may be available. He's injury prone but still good and with Dumervil and Lang and Ekuban he won't have to take that many snaps per game.
3. A new S. Michael Lewis perhaps?
4. It's been rumored that John Runyan may be available this year. He could be a great addition to the offensive line.
5. I think that Jake Plummer is done in Denver so a back-up will be needed. I would've said Jeff Garcia but I think the Eagles are going to resign him now. With that in mind I think Marques Tuiasosopa would fit into the system very well. He has a decent arm and good mobility.

QB - Obviously plummer is a way over paid 2nd string qb and we need to trade him.
RB - I'm sorry but neither of the Bell's impress me. Tatum fumbles too much and neither of them break away enough. They don't have the patience or the "field vision" that great backs have. I think we should get rid of both of them and get a solid back. If not both of them then at least Tatum.
WR - Rod Smith is my favorite receiver of all time but it is definitely time for him to go or spend more time on the bench. Walker is our number one receiver and I'm loving brandon marshall too.
O Line - MAJOR CHANGES NEEDED. Our O line has been a problem in our running game and the pass protection has been horrible. Cutler will not be our Qb of the future if he keeps taking all the hits he has been, compliments of our O line.
On the defensive side of the ball... lets see... new defensive cordinator, PASS RUSHERS ON THE LINE, foxworth back to Cb, and some safety positions need to be filled.

I don't think Asante Samuel fits into your man to man coverage scheme. He simply isn't fast enough. He still is a very good corner but he gets by with average speed because he plays in the cover 2 in New England.

I also look forward to seeing Brandon Marshall. I think he is going to be huge for the Broncos in the future. Man, Cutler, Marshall, Scheffler, Walker.....there is a lot of potential there.....I think our defense needs a big overhaul really.

Gotta say.....I am very optimistic about next season.
Losing D. Williams is a huge blow to our defense.....but that really isn't important today.

My wishlist.
DWAYNE JARRET! Anybody see him play against Michigan? wow. He's a top 10 pick in my eyes. I see more needs at other postions. I'd perfer if we go after a D Lineman in the Draft. I doubt we'll be able to get Freeney with the kind of money he'll be asking for and I doubt the Colts will let him go so easy. I see us getting Charles Grant instead. Since we're doing wish list, here's mine
1. Get rid of Coyer, he can't coach D. We need someone who scheme blitz's and make changes on the fly.
2. Get a passrusher in the FA or in the Draft.
3. Find a back who can carry it over 30 times, I don't see Mike Bell being able to do this.
4. Fix the O line, we need better tackles. I doubt Lepsis is coming back anytime soon next season. Pears should be fine, but we need to find a young LT who can dominate every game much like Marcus McNeil of the chargers.
5. Get a Saftey who can make plays on the ball. Micheal Lewis is going to be a free agent most likely, we should go after him.

Michael Lewis was benched because of his frequent inability to make plays on the ball and his constant getting-beat in coverages.
The Eagles even thought to move him at linebacker at one point this year because of his lack of coverage problems, recently.

I haven't seen it mentioned yet but near the top of my wishlist is a new special teams coach. Denver has been horrible for years at returning kicks/punts. Field position is such an overlooked aspect of the game. We either lead the league or where near the top of having the worst starting field positon for the season.
Hmm, let's see:
Coaching
Coyer must go. Replace him with a proven D-coord, not a home grown geezer.
STs need revamping. Although I can't see it happening.
QB
Backup needed...mobility is a must.
HB
It's tough. I can see the management either drafting a reasonably high back...they could also seriously consider Cecil Sapp as the franchise back. He always seems to get decent gains back there (has since 2003!). Whether Tater stays or goes doesn't matter much to me.
OL
Hopefully Lepsis and Nalen stay (and Lepsis returns to normal). Clear out the right hand side with Myers and Pears slotting in at LG and LT respectively. Keep either Carlisle or Foster for depth, most likely Carlisle as Foster has more value in other systems. Draft a future franchise LT (but don't do a Foster again...we need zone blockers) and a low round guard for future depth. (I'm rooting for our line to be D'07 LT - Myers - Eslinger/Hamilton - Kuper - Pears in the future)
DE
I'd like to see Ekuban starting next season in the base package, keep Dumervil situational (unless he proves otherwise). I'd like to see us get a complete end...in Pryce's mold (without the tantrums). I guess we can clear out some of the dead weight too (again...)...Brown and Engleberger, keep Lang for depth
DT
Get a high round DT, please. Gerard has played well although he really does get no help. Myers can walk for all I care...Veal is ok for depth.
DB
I think convert Coxy back to corner. Hehe. Coxy and Foxy. Awesome. We may pick up a 5th CB. At safety...we need to draft a top prospect I think to start alongside Brandon in the future. It'd be nice to have a complete safety...we've not had one for a long time. Lynch to move back to SS.
Well. There we go. Hope I'm agreed with...in terms of first day picks I'd say DT, DE and safety. We can get out O Linemen in the late rounds, probs an RB in the fourth. I suspect we may stockpile DL. Maybe.

I would really like to see us grab an awesome Defensive End who can take the pressure off the secondary.

i think if we could get albert haynesworth for the middle and lamar woodley in the first and brandon merriweather in the second trade our third rounder to chicago for either one of their backs more likely jones and move foxy back to cb
i think that will answer most of our needs because it will give us to huge tackles and 3 good ends
it lets foxy play his position (even though he filled in quite well at safety) and merriweather is gonna be a great safety in this league just like the other miami safeties
and then with jones a proven starter rather than turner a backup i think we will be set
we also need to move pears to RT if lepsis comes back healthy if not try and find help either in the draft or FA as for the rest of the line we still have kuper and eslinger as long as he gets healthy havent heard anything about him in awhile but dont forget he was a top ranked center in the draft last year
with as deep as the draft looks at receiver we might be able to get a decent receiver late to help us a guy like steve breston out of michigan would be a good fit because he is also a great return guy i think he night fall a little to because of all the other top notch receivers entering the graft

Sorry, I don't think we need Jarret and I don't want us to spend a pick on him, but boy would I love to see him in a denver uniform though. It won't happen and I don't want to spend a pick on him when we have other needs but still...

Yeah, that's what I was saying. Jarret is a Top 10 pick, no way would we be able to get him. I also said that we have bigger needs at other postions. But I know what you mean. Jarret is a beast.
