Black, White, Red, Brown. When will brothers stop killing brothers? Is a look or a word reason enough to take a man's life? If we feel disrespected, must we retaliate with a gun?
The shooting of Darrent Williams commands the headlines. But let us not forget that each day young men are dying at the hands of other young men. This madness must stop.
Denver has the "Never Forgotten Fund". Now we also have "Darrent Willimas - The Never Forgotten Man".
My heart goes out to Darrent's family, friends, teammates and coaches. May the guilty be swiftly brought to justice.

While I appreciate your words, who says anything about the killer being black, white, or otherwise?

I don't think we know the facts yet.
I'm going to wait and see before I rush to judgements.

No one,
maybe he meant brothers in a broader sense, like BEYOND color.
I think he says that in the first sentance.

My heart felt condolences go out to the family of Darrent Williams.
This baby was taken too early. Unfortunately, there will be more.
I usually do not post to forums when something like this happens. I too am disgusted with the constant shootings, deaths, mayhem and unlawful conduct of professional and amateur athletes.
As an African American my heart is full of sadness with the constant news of another African American athlete who has beaten the odds to get out of the ghetto only to succumb to a senseless "inner-city" like death.
Ours is a society in decay. Money, fame, jealousy and power have replaced God, ethics and brotherly love.
As a member of the African American society I remember when God was first, family second, education third, and athletics forth.
Finally, is quite evident that the person (probably African American) who shot young Darrent was too ignorant to resolve any dispute he may have had with Darrent or his friends. When he is caught let him pay the price.
As for the solution to all of this B on B crime let’s train the next generation to put GOD first in their life.

When I posted this thread I did indeed mean We are All Brothers. While we must wait to find out the idenity of Darrent murder(s) will it be a surprise if it is a black man?
While I have never been to the Safari Club I would guess that Darrent was partying at a club that attracted mostly black people. We are a self segragated society. Blacks congregate with blacks, whites with whites and so on down the line. We take no time to learn to love our brothers and sisters of a different color. Yet as my brother (NFLFAN1963) so eloquently stated "Ours is a society in decay. Money, fame, jealousy and power have replaced God, ethics and brotherly love." And therein lies the problem. It's a problem that crosses all racial and economic lines. Money, fame, jealousy and power have replaced God, ethics and brotherly love.
Want to change the world? Change yourself first. Want to stop the killing? Stop segregation. When we can all learn to love one another as Jesus commanded us, then we will have truly evolved as a society.
It's a new year. Make a resolution right now to get to know a man of a different color. Really get to know him! Don't just seek to become friends. Seek to become "Brothers!"

This is a partial sad truth. But, it is a truth none the less.
Lets not forget that guns are also for the military and for the private citizens of the US. Afterall, how would you feel if we somehow became a dictatorship and had no means to stand up to our own government? This is the letter of the law to allow us (citizens) our guns to protect ourselves.
Now, if you outlaw the general citizens from having guns, only the outlaws will have them. They already don't care about the laws, which is why they are already outlaws. And we, the citizens will not have a means to defend ourselves.
Let's not make this tragedy a gun control issue. Afterall, the person pulling the trigger is an OUTLAW. They would have had the gun regardless of whatever gun laws you (in general, not specifically you) would want passed.

Although I agree with you 100 percent the C.o.C. does not allow talk of religion on the boards.

Tupac Shakur
Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a ***** he's a hero
Give crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less ugly mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is
I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is
We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.
And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the blacks givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp smack you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some buck that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh
