1st Rd - Victor Abiamiri, DE Notre Dame. Complete Defensive End who can not only rush the passer, but unlike Elvis Dumervil, can be a force against the run as well. A little like Trevor Pryce, but more explosive off the edge. Pro-bowl type talent who slips to 20ish because of guys like Moses and Adams.

Other Possibilities:
***Michael Griffin, S Texas
***Demarcus Tyler, DT NC State
***Ted Ginn Jr, WR/KR Ohio State(longshot, but this is a pretty top-heavy WR class.)
***Joe Staley, OT Central Michigan
***Marshawn Lynch, RB Cal

2nd Rd - Chansi Stuckey, WR Clemson. Lightning quick with elite speed and a very dangerous return man. Above average hands and is very dangerous with the ball in his hands. Another weapon for Jay Cutler. Stuckey could also be our emergency 3rd quarterback as he started off his college career as the signal caller.

Other Possibilities:
***Tony Hunt, RB Penn State
***Earl Everett, OLB Florida

3rd Rd(From Wash) - Brandon Meriweather, S Miami (FL) - If he can stay out of trouble, this guy is going to be something special at the next level. Very physical player who to me plays more like Ed Reed than Sean Taylor. Has great speed for a Safety and is above average in pass coverage, would be a huge upgrade over Ferguson, although i thought that Cox and Foxxy did an adequate job late in the year.

Other Possibilities:

***Jon Cornish, RB Kansas
***Kareem Brown, DT Miami (FL)

3rd Rd - Mike Otto, OT Purdue. Right now it isn't known how Lepsis will contribute next year or even if he will come back to play. Pears didn't do a bad job and still has some upside as he is young, but the RT position is up in the air. George Foster has to be out of here as his game for the last couple years has been as flat as his a$$.(don't tell me you guys haven't noticed)

Other Possibilites:

***Fred Bennett, CB South Carolina
***Martrez Milner, TE Georgia

4th Rd - Tarell Brown, CB Texas. In wake of the horrible tragedy that occured yesterday morning, I'm left without little doubt we are shorthanded in the secondary. Tarell has good size (6' 205) and despite hiding in the shadows of All-American Aaron Ross, has a lot of upside.

4th Rd(Possible Comp) - Garrett Wolfe, RB Northern Illinois. I love watching this guy. Plays so much bigger than he is and just has a big heart. Continues to prove people wrong and i think between him and Chansi Stuckey, we would have finally find a dangerous return man.

5th Rd - Brandon Archer, LB Kansas State. As a KU fan i have watched Archer tear up the jayhawks over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, i feel our LB corpse is a little bit overrated, and maybe some young guys need to come in and light a fire under some of the veterans.

6th Rd - Stanley Doughty, DT South Carolina. Massive DT would be valuable as a run stopper.

7th Rd - Kolby Smith, RB Louisville. A bigger back who is not afraid to lower the pads and make a hole if there isn't one, something that cost us the San Fran game. Does all of the little things. Is an adequate blocker and catches the ball well.

I live in Manhattan Kansas and follow the Wildcats heavily, so I can comment reasonably well on Archer. The guy has great awareness. If there's a play, he gets involved in it. Either he finds a way to cut off an escape route, makes the big tackle, or gets to the receiver on a short pass to guarantee no YAC. He would be a good pickup in the 5th.

Another thing... he plays special teams... and plays it well. For a potential backup LB, wanting to play and excelling at ST coverage would be a good thing to consider, and Archer definitely has that covered.

As for the second round, I'd prefer Johnnie Lee Higgins Jr. out of UTEP. He runs a 4.29 40, and has 32 TDs in his 3 years there. He could be a huge return guy, and a great WR at the same time. He's not in the public eye as much as the big name receivers because he plays at UTEP, but he's 1st round talent in my eye that could fall to us there because of the depth at WR. Stuckey could probably be had with Washington's pick in the 3rd round if you wanted him instead to fill that role, but I'd much prefer Higgins.

Dont take this personally but the only pick I REALLY like is the one with Merriweather in the third, but I donno if he drops that low. I hope we dont go with the Abimari in the first he is inconsistant.

none of the "other possibilities" are appealing either?

Denver has followed a pattern the past few drafts and that was to draft 2-3 players at the same position. The 05 draft yielded Williams(RIP), Paymah, and Foxworth. The 06 draft selections included Hixon, Marshall, and in a way Walker. I foresee the 07 draft focusing on beef. Denver needs to get stronger on the lines. I like some of your picks and I think the Safety out of Miami would be a steal. Tha U has a tradition of turning out productive defensive players.

I would agree with this....but i think as far as the offensive line is concerned...we have a lot of good young players. Kuper, Eslinger, and Myers could someday be our 3 interior linemen. Eslinger was considered a 1st-2nd round talent that didnt make it because he was undersized...and somehow dropped to the 6th round. he will be a good player for us eventually. I have heard a lot of good things about Kuper and Myers as well. Pears did an adequate job on the left tackle and he is very young as well...

so basically just because our O-line played realllly realllly crappy Sunday, doesn't mean everyone needs to start demanding we draft a ton of O-lineman, i think shanny and co. feel they have a pretty decent set of young offensive lineman, now does that mean if a highly rated tackle falls to them somewhere in the draft they won't take it...absolutely not because we are still raw on the edges, but it doesn't mean we need to panic and draft 3 O-lineman on the first day.

now on the D-line...we are still pretty bad. our pass rush is improved from last season, but still not where we want it to be. our run defense was poor this year though, and i do think we need DTs. if we could somehow acquire a mammoth DT like a Gilbert Brown type, that would help us tremendously. But i don't think it's time to start reaching for guys all over in the draft. we are a good enough team that we need to 1st take the best players available...as long as they are not QB's and maybe LB's.

i think our priorities in the draft are as follows

1. Get weapons on offense to help Cutler out.

2. Get someone who can return.

3. Get best available players at any position.

Their RBs haven't been too bad lately, either (Edge, Portis, McGahee, Gore). Tyrone Moss could be a steal late in the first day.

Not sure about Abiamiri...

Make mine:

1.) DT Amobi Okoye, Lousiville (6'1"-300+) or
DE Adam Carriker, Nebraska (6'6"-298)
Note: Carriker could start at LDE from Day One and be a big body aligned next to Warren...Okoye would be a great compliment on the inside to Warren.

with:

2.) DT Marcus Thomas, Florida (6'2"-292) or
DE Ikaika Alama-Francis, Hawaii (6'5"-265)
Note: If we Draft Carriker, taking Thomas in the second would be ideal, IMO. Two potential starters. Alama-Francis is a player on the rise and would pair nicely with Okoye.

and

3.) a. (From Wash) FS Eric Weddle, Utah 6'0"-201
LOVE this kid...what a steal he would be in the early third...

3.) QB John Beck, BYU 6'2"-210
After Jake takes the bus outta town, we will need a backup. Beck would be ideal and a legit starter in the event of a Cutler injury.

5.) OLB/DE Abraham Wright, Colorado 6'3"-245
Ideal replacement for Patrick Chukwurah.

6.) RB Curtis Brown, BYU 6'0"-215
Interesting prospect could be nice fit for the Broncos.

7.) OG Steve Vallos, Wake Forest 6'3"-302
Bronco-type O-lineman...

More pix to come with the trades of Plummer, Tater and G Foster.

couple of things.....

is Patrick Chukwurah gone? did i miss anything, i don't see any reason he needs to leave Denver.

and also, i would be greatly disappointed it we took a QB on day 1 this year. i think there are plenty of able backup quarterbacks in the NFL just waiting for an opportunity to make a roster.
