Just heard m.bell's interview with jim rome. represented very well. Said shanahan was a player's coach. I had never heard that before. Rome brought up the fact that he went undrafted, yet finished the season as the fourth best rusher among all the rookie backs. m.bell spoke about it with a good balance of humlity, and confidence. But no bitterness.
Rome also brought up that m.bell was wearing a darrent williams wristband, and asked about that whole tragedy. Bell said williams was an inspiration to him, that where he wasnt the biggest guy,but he played with so much heart that he appeared bigger. And that on "that night" williams did everything right.
According to m.bell, the broncos are poised to make a run at the super bowl.I hope he is right. :salute: Glad we had this young man representing our broncos.

Yeah, I think our Offense is poised to be very good and the team in general is as well...
We have an established superstar in Javon Walker, the ultimate cagey vet in Rod Smith, and Cutler, Mike Bell, Scheffler and Brandon Marshall that all look like really good young players.....if the Broncos could add a Daniel Graham, and another RB to go with this mix, this Offense could be deadly

Mike Bell on Jim Rome - impressions
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If any of you heard Mike Bell on the Rome show, tell us what you thought.
This is what I thought.
First off, it was not a great interview. Some guys give good interviews, some bad, and this one not one of the good ones. Jim had to pull teeth to get Mike to open up and share something. Of course, when you're competing against Jim's other guests, seasoned commentators like Ditka, Jimmy Johnson, and Mark Schlereth, it's easy to look bad. But Mike's job right now isn't to be a public speaker, and I doubt that any of us would have had a compelling interview either. It was kind of boring.
But, I like the way he comported himself. You can tell he has great respect for the Broncos organization. He had that mix of pride and humility that you look for.
He spoke about fumbling...said it was difficult to run when thinking about not fumbling. After he fumbled in the preseason opener, he said he had guys telling him 'you better protect that ball, rook!' or 'we're coming to get that ball, rook!' and really going after the ball. He finished the season with 1 fumble in 175 carries, so good job Mike.
He talked about the Denver running scheme. Jim asked him, "do you think it's the system, or the player?" and Mike answered, "it's the player." He went on to share credit with the line, the O-line coach, and the running backs coach, and how well they prepare their players. He said that the system isn't for just anyone. He said it takes a certain type of player to perform well in that system, and a certain patience. Rome made me laugh because he followed Mike up with the comment, "Oh, so you mean that not everyone can do it?" with heavy sarcasm...Now I have a guess about Rome's take on Mike Bell.
The rest of the interview covered some predictable subjects: Jake-Jay (Mike deferred to Coach Shannahan's wisdom), Superbowl chances next season (great), being an UFA (doesn't listen to what other people think about a draft number), Jay's potential (excellent), biggest rookie challenge (adjusting to NFL speed), and what it's like living his childhood dream (he still can't believe it).
So not the most engrossing material, but it was good to hear him anyway. I was left with the impression that he's got his head down, nose to the grindstone, concentrating on being a running back. He's obviously proud of himself, and takes pride in what he does, but he's bursting with respect for the game. He's soft-spoken and polite, the kind of guy a girl takes home to meet her mother. Finally, I get the impression that he has a very strong drive to prove who he is, and to prove that he belongs.
We'll see in August.

By the way he said "oh, so not everyone can do it" was a big compliment to Mike, and my guess is that Jim feels he is a promising rookie with a bright future. It's just a guess, you shouldn't read too much into things, but then again, you need to be able to read between the lines.

He has an incredible depth and breadth of knowledge about the NFL. He says things off the cuff that reveal an incredible study of the game. He is one of the most intelligent sports analysts I've heard recently, so I respect his opinion. He does have an amazing charisma, so you do need to temper your listening with some skepticism, to avoid being a mindless follower...but he's gotta be one of the best in the biz.

I like Rome too, but he is a little full of himself...
For instance, he takes shots at Shanahan anytime he can, Tiger Woods, etc, because they won't come on his show....he calls Shanahan 'Shanarat' as being part of the 'Rat Family'....that is an non-professional personal attack on someone...and remember, this is a guy that made his name by mocking an NFL QB, Jim Everett on his TV show by calling him 'Chris' repeatedly.
