View Full Version : Things that you would change about your spouse/significant other...

You know, I have just completed my 4 weeks of midnights 11 PM to 7 AM and I'm off from work for the next two days...
Yesterday, I was pretty darned sleepy...
I got home yesterday at or about 11 AM because I had to finish up a DWI report that I had picked up on Saturday morning...that's why I've been missing for the last couple of days...
I got up around 4 PM and went to the babysitters to pick up our 2 sons...
I got back around the same time that she got home from work...I ended up falling asleep on the couch with my 4 year-old laying on me asleep...
Then came the nagging...
"What are you gonna sleep all day..?"
"I can't believe how much you sleep..."
"You don't do anything around this house...(As if making dinner is somehow comparable to finding a cure for world hunger)"
"You might as well not even be here. because all you do is sleep while you're here..."
My question is: Why feel compelled to complain about something that you cannot possibly understand...?
My wife works at a bank...come hell or high water...she's in at 8 AM and out at 4:30 PM...there is absolutely no derivation from that schedule...
I just wish that she would figure out how and when to shut her mouth...

I don't complain about the fact that he sits. He works longer hours & harder than I do. However, I wish he were more of a sports lover.....
I wish he were a little more of a social person.
I wish he liked music.
Actually, we have NOTHING in common!
Thank you for pointing this out to me!

The only real "conflict" I have with my wife is when my kids are completely scattered around town and both of our cellphones are out of batteries and my SUV wont start and...and...and...
That folks, was last night. *bows*

I try not to nag my hubby. I hate when I hear wives do that to their husband so I TRY not too. I do however wish that he could pick up after himself, for example:
He will get something out of the cabinet (medicine, cereal box) and just leave it. Heaven forbid he open up the damn cabinet and put it right back, apparently that is asking to much. He will start a project around the house and never finish it! He also never in his life apologized for anything. I wish he would have a little more emotion about things.
I wish he didn't pretend to know everything there is to know about everything! That drives me insane! For once I would like to hear, you know I don't know
Ok I am done for now

My wife tends to treat me like the kids. She is so motherly and it drives me bonkers sometimes. I wish she wouldn't cuz I get mad about it occasionally and I do tell her so. :hammer:
Another thing she does is point out the obvious all the time. Driving home in a blizzard and she informs me it is snowing. I look at her and say "really?"
Other than that, I wish she had bigger boobs.

IN KEEPING WITH THE EQUAL-TIME POLICY OF THIS STATION, THE FOLLOWING IS A REBUTTAL FROM GRLSLUVFTBL2'S HUSBAND:
1. I wish she would stop picking up after me. I love picking up after myself (she should have seen how neat I kept my bachelor pad). It's just that she's so damn antsy, she gets to the scene of the mess first. (If she were a freakin' RACE horse, she'd be a front runner for SURE!)
2. I gladly put things back into the medicine cabinet... but when I'm BLOODY WELL FINISHED with 'em! <puff, puff, straightenin' tie... regaining composure...> I brush my teeth THREE TIMES A DAY. So WHY put the damn brush away after BREAKFAST??
3. As for "projects around the house," anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT, vacuum cleaner breath!! The freakin' PYRAMIDS were not built in a DAY!
4. Haven't you ever heard the old sentiment, "Love is never having to say you're sorry???"
5. I don't claim to know "everything." Like I sure as HELL don't know why you NAG me over such TRIVIAL matters as this, day in and day out!! <getting out blood pressure tester, while checking out E-Harmony.com for married people....>

Yeah, the dinner argument is alive and well in the Law Man's house too...mine will complain about having to make dinner...I always eat eat it, even tell her it's good...
I always get the "How come you never make dinner for me...?"
If I don't want to fight, we go out to eat...
If I'm up for a scuffle I'll say "Because I was born with the wrong sex organs for making dinner..."

id say no she cheers for them and its the only team she knows but she doesnt know alot about football either.
which brings me to my next point about what id change
when im watching a game please dont cheer or boo if you dont know what is going on in the game. its embarrasing. and its not just her some of my friends do this too that dont know but enjoy watching the game.
if its a fumble or int. close to the sidelines that is clearly out dont cheer and be wrong about your call. my gf is wrong almost every play and she starts rubbing it in other fans faces. come to find out the officials overturn it. then i have to defend her please shut up and watch and learn before cheer a obvious play.

My wife is a pushover and people take advantage of her kindness. I keep telling her to speak up, which she does on occasions, but not enough. But I wouldn't change a thing about her, especially the nagging because God forbid if something were to happen to her, I would miss her nagging. And her boobies.

Well, we are on two different ends of the spectrum here...
Yours won't speak up and mine won't shut up...

My spouse and I have an odd relationship.
I'm the man of the house if you look at it this way....
I hang with boys
Play video games
Love sports
Play poker
I play rough
Love cars & bikes
Drink whiskey (stopped that for my health)
Love metal
Love to fish
Drive a stick (prefer it)
Tend to my own car's needs
Then again, I also take on the wife role.
Cook
Clean
Do laundry
Tend to little man's needs & take care of whoever is sick (this includes myself)
I wear make-up
Keep my hair fixed & wear girly-girl things
Pay the bills
I do all that AND work full time.
So really, I don't think I need a man, right?
I'm pretty much a self-contained couple!
I know what you're all thinking, what about sex?
Ahh ha ha ha ha....we'll just save that for another thread, right?
Man, this thread really has me thinking......

No, I think he is the only one. His friends are leaders not followers  My whole family is broncos Fans except two. He actually is not into football as much as I am. He likes it don't get me wrong but he's not really the sports guy. He is the guy that likes to tinker on projects in th garage..if that makes sense. It's me on the couch watching sports although I have done a good job this year getting him into it more and more.

My wife is the best in the world would not change a thing.
I work a 12 hour shift ALL the time Nights I just sleep whenever I want or can. But I hear it all the time from guys at work about their wifes LOL LOL LOL
Some women just can not shut up or are not very nice to start with poor young guy at work last weekend his wife went shopping with with her girlfriends on a Sat. This guy worked nights 6 to 6 on Friday babysat his 2 kids Sat and I found him sleeping up at one of the machines he was running sat night. What kind of woman does that to her man??

I'd make my "significant other" closer.
I was in Korea for 2 years and we lived together and everything was great. We were going to wait till be got to the States to get married and then everything fell apart.
We're still together, but it has been more than a year since I saw her because she is back in the Philippines waiting for paperwork to complete to come here. It looks like it's going to be another 9 months before she can actually get here.
So, I'd bring her here. There is nothing else I would change about her.

Let me say as the "Law Man's" wife that all of the things he decides to put on this web page I have a right to respond to.
My beloved husband loves to call me all kinds of nasty things but he forgets to leave out the fact that his dinner is cooked for him every night, his kids are taken care of, his house kept remotely clean, and I work a full time job. The "Law Man" goes to work, sits in his patrol car all day getting out to fill his coffee cup, or occassionally write a ticket, then comes home and plops his lazy butt on the couch and sleep while his dinner is prepared for him and his boys are taken care of. He is woken up when his dinner is ready, and when he's done eating the dinner that was prepared for him he goes right back to sleeping on the couch. HOW BAD DOES HE HAVE IT??????? The pathetic part is that if he is not on the couch sleeping he is on this stupid web site talking crap about the person who does everything for him. Lets not feel bad for the "Law Man" He thinks his wife is a psychopath because she would like to be noticed more than just when its time for bed. He really does not have it all that bad, he has to do nothing more than go to work and sleep.

You deserve the medal of honor for that. Now come over and work on my wife.
I would be happy if she at least "tolerated" football a bit.

Dear JLM & "Wife"
There are three sides to every story, aren't there?
* His side.... the "whipping boy" husband who works hard for his family & community...only to me emotionally abused when he gets home each night by an insecure, over-bearing wife. He finds that he is tired...both mentally & physically.
Why must she always keep score and why must there always be something wrong? Why can't she just relax?
* Your side... The loving wife who cooks, cleans, tend to the kids, tends to him, probably handles a lot of things that he doesn't around the house...always ignored emotionally and wonders what happened to that guy that she married....the one that took care of things and was there for her and made her feel like she was the most beautiful woman on the planet. You feel that things are so one-sided....that it's you who seems to pull more than your fair share at home.
You used to get so much attention from him....now you wonder if there's somebody else getting it.
As time goes on...we tend to forget how to be polite to our spouses. We take them for granted. We forget that they love us and we tend to take things personally when they've had a bad day or when they make a mess. We forget the things that we fell in love with. We substitute the affections towards our kids for affection and quality time with each other. We forget...
Neither of you are happy (duh). So, you have two choices....
*Stop keeping score on one another & get some help to save your relationship.
*Stop keeping score and end it as mature adults who share kids.
If there wasn't love there, then you would have been long gone a long time ago.
Indifference is freedom in a relationship.
You can fight and go on with these games but the both of you are forgetting something....YOUR KIDS!!!!
Your kids are at home...they see you fight, they see the tension, THEY KNOW.
You are doing nothing to benefit them by acting out these silly games.
Shame on the both of you.
They will have problems in their own personal lives by the examples you are setting for them.
Get real.
No offense. I have no room to talk of perfect relationships.
However, I can only imagine the kind of drama that occurs in your home each night. You guys are so busy building the walls around you that you can't see what matters.....
And I feel sorry for the both of you.
I hope it works out for you guys and I hope you don't emotioally scar your kids while you are attacking each other.
