Looks like Detroit may deal him to NYG. That would be good for us in a sense as it would take NY out of the RB market.

Hmm, that doesn't make a lot of sense unless they're positive Kevin Jones will be back at 100% in time for training camp. tatum was supposed to be their insurance policy. The Lions do have a glut of RBs currently on their roster, though (I only know this because I'm their GM ;) ).

Right now they've got Kevin Jones, Shawn Bryson, Brian Calhoun (who they just drafted last year), Arlen Harris (who started in lieu of Jones this year but is currently a UFA), and Aveion Cason (also a UFA), and now Tatum Bell.

Keep in mind they also have like 3 fullbacks on their roster.

I sincerly doubt they'll be trading Tatum anytime soon, unless of course they decide to take Peterson with #2 overall. But hey, Millen has done crazier things before!

They need Tatum because Kevin Jones is a big questionable as to whether he'll be ready when the season starts so dealing Tatum out wouldn't be a smart move.

GIANTS INTERESTED IN BELL

A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the New York giants are interested in swinging a deal with the Lions for newly-acquired running back Tatum Bell.

As we mentioned on Thursday, the Lions could end up trading either Bell or tackle George Foster, both of whom were obtained from the Broncos in the Dre' Bly trade.

The Giants are in the market for a new tailback after the retirement of TiVi Barber. Brandon Jacobs has showing promise as a short-yardage and goal-line specialist.
