With guys like Darren Mcfadden, Ian Johnson, Ray Rice, Mike Hart, and Steve Slaton being eligible/senior next year, what's the big deal with the running backs from this class? Lynch and Peterson and who else? I could see most of the underclassmen going higher than either of these guys. What's everyone else's thought? :salute:

I agree, I think next year's class will be better.... I've been a huge fan of McFadden's game, even before he got huge national attention. I was hoping we'd be able to get him next year and that's why I was pro-signing a vet as oppossed to trading up in the draft this year.

i concur completely, my boss and i were talking about this earlier, next year should be an elite running back draft

Jonathan Stewart is a much better back than Johnson... but to answer the question... the better RB class is 2008.

i think this is why we signed Henry... we will draft DEFENSE day one... probably will all 4 picks! We'll get one draft a RB next year...

Next year, no question. You forgot James Davis from Clemson

A lot of those guys are underclassmen, so you don't know who will enter and who will stay. Either way, the next two drafts look stacked at running back

I posted my list of the top draft eligible RBs for 2008 in another thread. Link below.

http://forums.denverbroncos.com/showthread.php?t=86674&highlight=2008

The list is quite impressive
Next year is considered to be one of the best rb drafts in recent memory when the following players are draft eligible

Darren Mcfadden- Arkansas
Felix Jones- Arkansas
Branden Ore- Virginia Tech
Chauncey Washington- USC
James Davis- Clemson
Mike Hart- Michigan
Jamaal Charles- Texas
Ian Johnson- Boise State
Ray Rice- Rutgers
Yvenson Bernard- Boise State
Steve Slaton- West Virginia
Ryan Torrain- Arizona State
Tyrell Sutton- Northwestern
Jonathan Stewart- Oregon
Marlon Lucky- Nebraska
Albert Young- Iowa.

Whew. Anybody else I'm missing? There's a hell of a lot of 1st and 2nd round talent in there

I think the signing of Travis Henry was great for us. While there are some solid RB's in this draft that would be available for us, there's no one that would be a stud workhorse. So we get an aging, but still very solid #1, and we give ourselves another full year to evaluate the potential Mike Bell has. If at the end of next season we don't see a future for Mike, we retain Henry who will turn 30 midway through that following season, and draft an heir to the throne for Henry to tutor from one of those awesome backs.

Personally, my (realistic) favorites are Branden Ore, Jonathan Stewart, James Davis, and Felix Jones, but the guy for everyone to keep an eye on this year is Chauncey Washington of USC. The guy has tremendous running skills but had some academic issues early in his career and had to compete with Lendale and Bush, and now has to compete with 5 other Freshmen/Sophomore backs who were all top 10 recruits coming out of High School.

All of these RB's are going to great NFL backs because they have great size and great speed. My favorite of them all is Mike Hart because he'd be the best fit for the Broncos. He runs in a one cut system and has done extremly well in it. I love McFadden and Stewart as well, I just hope we can get one of them next year.

Not to mention, next years QB class is gonna be better also. John David Booty, Brohm from Lousiville, Colt Brennan, and Chad Henne. All better than this year's class. Next years offensive draft is better overall, but this years defensive class is just awsome.

Yeah it helps that Michigan went to a zone blocking scheme.

I also like Slaton, McFadden, Davis and Charles.

Charles should run an amazing 40 time. He ran against Xavier Carter in track and held his own. Im guessing he runs in the 4.2s or low 4.3s.

Really depends on if the Junior RBs want to Declare or stay for a Senior year.........

The only big deal in this draft from an RB perspective is Adrian Peterson, who should have gone pro after his freshman year at OU. He is a beast. I don't even think McFadden can do what he can.

2010 will be better than 2008 though.
