Bly + 1st round pick + 3rd round pick(b) = Springs + #6 pick
Gold +3rd round pick(a) = Lance Briggs


Then the following moves can be made.

A) Foxworth becomes starter alongside Bailey
B) Move Springs to Coverage Saftey alongside Lynch
C) Move DJ Williams to Weakside LB and insert Briggs at Strongside LB
D) Use the number 6 pick overall in one of 4 ways - 1) Draft Adrian Peterson if he falls, 2) Draft Calvin Johnson if he falls, 3) Actually target Okoye at DT, or 4) trade down into the middle somewhere picking up additional picks in 1st, 2nd, and hopefully 3rd or 4th. If we trade down, pick up a Pass Rushing DE with 1st round pick, a Saftey(in case Springs doesn't work out) with 2nd, and with the 3rd or 4th round pick another DL, another Secondary player for added depth, or RB for competition.

if that went down, i would be pretty excited. i dont know how interested Briggs would be in playing here, but those are definitely viable options. I really dont think we'd bring in Springs as a safety, we obviously want a CB opposite Champ.

As for your "D)" options, i think priorities 1 and 2 with the 6th pick (if we get it) would be Alan Branch if he falls, and then target Okoye. We're set at RB this year, we need depth at WR, but not in the 1st. If we trade down, i dont know what the Pats deal is, but we could trade the 6th for both of their 1st rounders and get, like you said, a pass rusher and a safety. that would still leave a whole at DT, but we would be getting some great players

How does the Franchise Tag work if they don't let Briggs try to make a deal on his own? I thought the Bears aren't giving him permission to seek a deal elsewhere?

Does that mean he is a Restricted FA with a Franchise Tag? Because if he is a Unrestricted FA, then the Bears shouldn't be able to keep him from looking for a deal elsewhere.

I really am confused concerning his situation.... :confused:
