I heard a rumor from a scouting friend of mine that Denver might be looking into trading down or staying and selecting Joe Staley. If this did happen on draft day what would be your reaction and/or thought?
If we are targeting Staley I would prefer trading with N.O. or Phi and take him then.
Whats your reaction or opinion?
I wouldn't complain one bit, as long as we get an extra 2nd. I would much rather have two seconds because of the depth at the defensive line, we could get two solid potential startes instead of just one :salute:

I wouldn't mind. Its not a flashy pick, but the draft guys here say there is a lot of depth at DE that we could grab in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. :D

Wouldn't be surprised if he went higher, but I'm not against the pick. I'd be happy.

I wouldn't mind it at all. I'm sure there's some depth at DL in the 2nd or 3rd :D

i've discussed this in quite a few threads-- i'd be just fine with it. . .

It's not the end of the world. :coffee:
But, I doubt the Broncos could trade down very far and still get Staley. He's maybe somewhere between a 20 and 30th pick. Unless the Broncos traded with a team that had a later 1st round pick, they would miss out on him.
I wouldn't care about that, but it would ruin the entire point of the idea: trade down stockpile a pick and still get Staley.

As MUG posted in another thread, rumors are circulating that some in the Steelers camp are pushing to draft Staley. I doubt Denver would trade up to get Staley, but it would increase the chances of Jarvis Moss dropping to #21.
If Staley IS there at #21 (and assuming a select few D-linemen and safetys are gone), it might be wise to pick him at #21.

That's true it would. But, we don't know that Shanhan would take Jarvis Moss if he were available. That's the real question!
I mean last year for some incomprehensible reason he showed not the slightest interest in Haloti Ngata, despite the possibility that Cutler would be off the board when the Broncos picked. I mean he later said that Mulroney was his next pick.
I have nothing against Mulroney, but Ngata is going to be a premier DT in the NFL and there's NO reason not to consider him the best available player (next to Cutler) when the Broncos picked at #11 last year.
