I wonder what the terms were, it's not like we had much to trade away, if it was the 3rd rounder that we got Harris with I'd be very upset, Jenkins is a good value for a 3rd round pick, maybe not a 2nd rounder though. We'll have to see what Marcus Thomas does to see whether it was a good choice or not.

we could have traded out of the first. picked up crowder, jenkins AND moss!! and still had a lot of picks left
I heard that around the 5th or 6th round... we also turned down a moss deal

yeah you guys know why we turned down randy right?
not because it was the raiders,or the pick, but because he wouldnt renegotiate his contract with us,
he still wanted top dollar, and shanny wouldnt and couldnt pay it.
i think he even said he would only renegotiate if he went to ne, i will try to find a link for that.

Ya and we turned down TO before. Shanny has no problem taking on troubled guys, but IHOP made sure he now only does it on his terms.

good move not picking up jenkins, he hasn't been the same guy since his back to back season ending injuries
before the injuries he was great , even blocked kicks
after surgery he's been nothing even close to his former self

My guess it was either get a young, talented, 1st round talent, but controversal player (Marcus Thomas) or take a chance on a probowler who has been plagued with injuries (Kris Jenkins). And he decided to go with the young gun. Good job Shan.

Maybe they were confident enough in Thomas' upside that they thought Jenkins has baggage and isnt worth it.
Veal may begin the season as the starter, but I bet Thomas will be starting for us by seasons end. I just hope our linebackers can hold up without Al anchoring the middle.

Last year was his first full year after back to back injuries in which, if im not mistaken,
he went to the pro bowl as a DT.

He said he would only renegotiate if he went to a team that had a good chance at the SuperBowl.
He did not feel Denver was in that category at this time, and that's ok.

Yep its his choice and in my unabashed biased opinion its his loss. I think we'll be just fine without him.

i read that we also turned down a trade to get Ryan Moats from the Eagles...not sure if he would have been worth it or not, haven't looked up his stats, but he might have been a good back-up

He was definately good this year and did not make it on name alone.

You guys DO realize don't you that Randy Moss INSISTED on a 1 year contract -- and that the main part of the deal with the Raiders was NOT the 4th round draft pick the Pats have to give up. It was the roughly $9.7 million cap hit that they had to absorb from the Raiders. The Raiders had to pay that much to trade moss, because his huge back-weighted contract was accelerated as soon as he was traded, and that huge cap hit was off-loaded onto the Patriots. Obviously Denver didn't have the cap room to absorb all that and ended negotiations almost immediately.
That's in ADDITION to Moss's salary for the season.
And all for a guy who will be a FA at the end of the season.
obviously the Pats think he'll put them over the top into the SB this season and they could very well be right.
But, it's a lot to pay for a 1 year rental, and a similar deal made absolutely NO sense for the Broncos. They wisely avoided Randy Moss and his baggage.

if they do, we could run to pick him up :)
I'd sign Jenkins off the free-agent market in a second.

It's going to be interesting to see if the change MO this offseason bites them in the ass. I'm willing to bet it does.

Yeah he did, but he still had injury concerns. I just think that Denver thought there was less risk in taking Marcus Thomas in the 4th rather than giving up a third or second for Jenkins. Either way, it was a good move to pick up either players.
