You know I have a lot of pride for my team and my state[Co]
I enjoy college football and some nba and really like hockey
though the NFL is really cool. I know times are tough though I
believe that in this day and age things dont have to be this way.
Read this. Im only a fan and I dont mean to be little anybody.

Here in Oregon its nice though Im sure its just as nice back home or could be made that way. Here its more like well ya know what daya do.

Anyway This place Ive had it, the people are basically just to silly
Ive really come to that conclusion. As some of you remember my post on the political problems this state has,They cant do anything..Afew months ago they had a chance to pump your own gas if you wanted it didnt pass.
Theve had numerous other issues to vote on and they all failed. Well read this article from the newspaper I copied:

Oregon is own worst enemy

What I find priceless are the blinder-wearing split everthing down the middle party line voters. It wasnt the Democrats or the republicans that ruined the economy which ,by the way is in shambles regardless of what Arizona and California look like.
Oregon worst enemy has been and continues to be its own citizens who
consistently vote to sustain and enlarge the most comprehensive and exspansive government bureaucracy in recent memory and yet have the sense of humor to consistently vote against any common-sense methods to support it financially.
By the way big brother, nice job on the issuence of the 11 cent checks that cost 30 dollors to print and issue.Money well spent. Governors and
legislators are not scapegoat saviors. The sytem in Oregon is set for private
citizens to get things done without any initiatives. They have proven over and over agian they are not willing to offend their constituencies, on either side of the lines, to actually make changes that need to be made.
This place is silly the people here are to silly to much and like to think of them selves that way though the coast is nice..
I want to go home Things are going to have to change here
On the otherside I can have fun
here and stuff its just that this place is kind of silly.

Right, because the gas companies are going to race to lower their prices just so you can have the privilage of standing in the rain pumping your own gas. Not to mention the ability for them to unemploy two-thirds of their staff.

I'm not offended...I just don't see any reason to vote to stand in the rain breathing in gas fumes.

wait, in Oregon you can't pump your own gas? Like, you're not allowed to by law? I have never been there, so I am going to ask a question borne out of total ignorance (in the most literal meaning of the word), what are the reasonings behind this? Is it an insurance thing? Or was it to create more entry-level jobs? It seems like a silly thing for a state legislature to be worried about, whether or not people can pump there own gas.

I am not sure about Oregon, but I do know that in New Jersey all gas stations must be full service. I think it is primarily an insurance concern.

doesn't that hurt the small business owner? Higher payroll, thus higer payroll taxes. Not that the price of gas will drop, but his profits will increase, and then the government gets a higher tax benefit on that than from payroll tax. For ever $1 you pay an employee, it costs, on average somewhere betweem $1.50 - $2.00 to have them. Things like workman's comp insurance, some sort of disability and or life insurance, and of course payroll ande income taxes. And this is just to the federal government. Seems that you wouldn't want to hire people just to pump gas, if they will make you lose money. Sorry for the economics discourse.

Hmm.....at the very least, when I go visit my old collge chum in Seattle, I will have to remember to stay in the vehicle. What's the proper ettiquette in terms of tipping? I wouldn;t want to be rude. What a fascinating law. Thanks for the heads up

LOL I just clicked on the last page of the "anything but football" thread & saw this post...figured I'd dig it up...

I would think that it would save the gas station owners money to employ people to do full service stations--Think of all the drive offs that gas stations have to deal with--if you have someone out there there wouldn't be as many.

I don't know, I think I would personally love to have someone always fill my gas tank for me, but that's just cuz I'm a pretty-pretty-princess & wouldn't want to break a nail or something ;) LOL
