Does anyone play the either of the battlefield games (1942, 2142)? I am looking to get a new game and I have heard great things about 1942 online play. I was wondering since 2142 came out a lot later, are there still people playing 1942 online a lot? Also, is 2142 played by a lot of people?

Mostly I am just wondering if the online community all rolled over to 2142 or if 1942 is still played. I need a game to play for the next month or two when all the good new games start comming out.

I hated Battlefield 2142 personally.

Battlefield 1942 is ok, however my computer wont play it for some odd reason.

Battlefield 2 is the best of them all by far

I didn't even know there was a Battlefield 2. Is that older or newer than 2142?

Older but much better IMO...it came out in 2003ish i think

battlefield 2 without a doubt is the most fun. The biggest down side is its very newbie handicapped in that if you have hours to play every day and work up the ranks you will always have the edge with the higher powered weapons.

Thats odd because i find alot of the unlockable weapons pretty crappy

medic and engineers arn't so good, but the snipers, special forces and infantry I've always found more effective for taking a person down. I cant remember off the top of my head but one of the sniper rifles you can unlock is always one shot kills and if your really good it'll kill helo pilots and truck drivers.

The medics first unlock, the L85A1 is one of the best guns I play with. The M95 sniper rifle is just as powerful as all the other sniper rifles (95 damage against human targets), but it is the only one that will shoot through helo glass.

I agree that BF2 is the best one. If you get it, get the package that includes Special Forces. For around $10 more you get 2X the unlocks just for having it installed (and some of those maps are fun). The only downside to BF2 for me is it is a memory whore and the netcode is not as solid as 2142.

I actually like 2142, but it is not as good as BF2. I havent played 1942 since the demo (when it came out forever ago), but I didnt like it much then. Tons of people like it though, so it might be worth checking out.
