I think the best thing I can do is wait for more gameplay footage or anything else that could spark my interest.
did you watch the game play video i linked?

    http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/...er-walkthrough

that is a multi player walkthrough.

did you read about the information that has been released so far?

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=188836

you don't even have to play the game with other people if you dont want to, you can just play each class to see their unique story as well as the main story that is separate from the unique class stories.

As for the best Star Wars game, I don't think any MMO that's based off an original game will ever be better than it's original counterpart. A prime example is Final Fantasy Online. But who knows, maybe this game could be a good refreshment from all these same genres everywhere, mostly FPS.
as far as story goes.....i agree, it would be very hard to beat the original KOTOR. i dont think any bioware game has ever been able to beat that story, they could have literally made a starwars movie based on that story and it would have been one of the better movies IMO.

but other than that, as far as the actual game goes......it definitely will be better than that, there is no doubt in my mind.

KOTOR wasn't anything special other than the story to be honest. the second KOROR was a better game (not made by bioware) but the story didn't come close so it wasn't quite as good.

if you read the information out there so far about the game, you will come to realize it isn't anything like the original KOTOR.

its a completely different game and story, its set 300 years in the future (from where KOTOR 2 left off)

the combat is completely different and more action based. the game is much much more in depth with 20x more content (probably more than 20x actually)

all that said, i can understand not wanting to play an MMO, but you dont have to ever pay for a subscription if you dont want to.

you can buy the game (for the same price as a single player game) and play the first month. most people dont play single player games more than than anyways.

but honestly, if you are a fan of starwars, bioware, or the KOTOR series at all. it is at the very least worth checking out.

This I agree with. In knowing Bioware, they'll do their best in putting out a game that will please the hardcore fans. I've always bought Bioware games and will continue to do so. This is no exception.

It's probably the only MMO I'll keep playing past the initial month.

Well... I would love nothing more than to sink into this game for 6 months or so... but it's unrealistic. The way my life is right now, I just don't think I can do that.

I know 1 month won't be enough, and I probably won't be able to play as much of the game as I'd like in that one month.

    I just can't justify it.

    I really wish I could.

I really hope the game kicks ass for those of you who get it though. I'll probably read spoilers and stuff.
    Thanks, Reid!

I think, to project any game to keep anyone's attention for longer than a month is unrealistic. It all depends on content, game mechanics and execution. To say "i'll sink x amount of months into this game" is unrealistic, because you really can't project how you're going to feel about the game until you've played it. I tried signing up for beta testing, but was not selected. I wasn't bummed out, but really hoped that I could get a feel fairly early for how this game was going to act and behave.

I don't know if I can keep my focus and attention for any game longer than a month. I have silly game ADD where I bounced from game to game all the time.

If I want to keep playing this game, I think I will have to remind myself that not only did I buy it, but I have to keep paying to play it. Perhaps it'll mean more.

I've been playing WoW the last 5 and a half years, and it would take a heck of a game to make me switch. I mean I love the KOTOR series but i still really enjoy WoW. I might try the KOTOR mmo but will most likely be playing WoW until the new blizzard mmo (Titan) comes out.

lol screw that, i have been playing wow off and on since open beta and it gets boring fast (for me at least).

i am sure TOR will be no different 6+ years after its release as well.

Agreed, to heck with Blizzard. I'm happy with Everquest 2 (and Everquest before that)

heck, they could make a movie based off the original KOTOR game and it would be one of the better star wars movies IMO.

How many of ya'll think you will play?

I'm definitely going to play and give it a couple months. Probably going light side since everyone will most likely be playing darkside.
