A general question to the gang.......do you folks like 3 pointers more than taking it to the paint?
I come from a time when 3 pointers didn't even exist. We were taught to get to the hoop, through dribbling, passing and good play selection. Shooting has always been important, but I wasn't keen on the 3 pointer, once it became a bigger influence on the game. It's great shootng, but you do not have to drive with it.
This is not about knocking Curry or any other great shooter. This is just bb 101 philosophy. I will admit I am not keen on a giant stud just throwing it down, much like Wilt The Stilt used to do. Somewhere between a giant center and the long ball shooters, there's a beautiful game of skill and smarts. I love those who "drive" and make plays in tight.
And you want to hear something radical I might endorse......get rid of the 3 point line.:thumb: How that would change the game!

Slight change.....or instead of getting rid of the 3 pointer, move it back a few feet. That would add excitement late in games....but at a bigger risk.Last edited by CanDB; 06-01-2016, 09:38 AM.

But probably his biggest play of the entire game 7 wasn't a 3 at all. It was his drive all the way to the rim with 5 seconds remaining and laying it high off the class over two people with a huge height advantage on hin to beat the buzzer.
And he had several moves that game where the bigs just can't keep up and next thing you know he is around them and to the hoop.
I recall another layup second half where he beat both Durant and then Westbrook.
He isn't Lebron gifted at going to the lane do to his height. But he is still pretty dang good at it.sigpic

But if we can, lets discuss the 3 pointer and not think specifically about Stefan. I made the mistake of mentioning him in my post. But lets try to imagine the game without 3s, or with the 3 point line moving back a few feet. Would the game be better? I think it would. My beef right from the get go was why are we rewarding players for staying outside the perimeter? Now, my view is also this.....guys like Curry will prosper with or without. He is a gifted player/athlete.
But I'm all for more driving into the paint, and making crazy passes to moving targets, attacking the hoop!

As in without the three defenders would not guard him out at the three point line. He extends the D which makes it infinitely easier for him to drive past them. Without a three point line those bigs stay close to the basket and can recover to his moves easier.
Personally I like the three ball. And I feel players still drive a ton more than maybe you are giving them credit for.
But I've also never lived in an age without it. So I can't speak to life being better without it.sigpic

And I have seen many years of bb, some before and plenty after the 3 pointer came into being. Initially I had stronger feelings against it. Now I enjoy it, but I sometimes wonder why the extra point, given how good these guys can shoot.
And yes, players can drive. Many of them can play any style. I just have a sense that the 3 pointer is not such a special shot nowadays, as compared to when it first came out (I'll bet the % made are up a lot since the initial year). If so, move the line back. I just feel that, improved accuracy along with what I would describe as less defensible shot (Ds can't be everywhere) combine to make me want a change of some sort. The good news, lots of opportunity to score.....and scoring usually turns on lots of fans.

There was NO EXCUSE for OKC not to beat then in game 6!!! They had SCHOOLED G.S. by 20 points plus in games 3 and 4 at home, and had a 40 point lead at one time!!! No excuse at all. Simply a CHOKE, pure and simple , by the whole entire organization.
Even worse, they might not get this close ever again in a long time. Durant is fixin to load that Momma of his up and play for his hometown of DC next season, then the year after lose Westbrook, so , there you go.sigpicoh YEAH?

Hornacek said something about the Knicks running some triangle this year, which could make Melo and Rose work pretty well. He wants to get out and run too, but you gotta play some defense to do that. Don't see that happening.

They didn't give up much, and he's in a contract year. I still think the Bulls waited too long to deal him, but at least they got some pieces. He's nowhere near as efficient as he used to be, so hopefully they don't ask him to do too much.
