    New England Very Active....

Have you noticed that New England has been extremely busy in FA? Last count they had signed 14 players from other teams, along with 17 of their own. Plus they are also interested in Okoye......so are we, and I sure hope we land him.

But The Pats certainly always have a plan. What makes you worry a bit about this organization, is that:

    - they just about won another SB
    - they have a ton of great draft picks, including 2 first rounders
    - they have a lot of really good young players, from recent drafts
    - Brady is still one of the elite QBs in the game

So, for them to be so aggressive in FA tells me one thing.......they never take a breather, and they never rest on their laurels. Sure, a number of the signings aren't premiere players, but so what. They keep looking!

Really? I'm pretty sure the Giants beat them..

The Patriots are playing it smart. They're signing a lot of players for depth, (exception of Lloyd) and use the draft to fill needs. A lot of players would love to play for the Patriots, since they're so good. What WR wouldn't want to catch passes from Tom Brady?

Tell me the significant difference between "just about won another SB" and "the Giants beat them"

I was merely stating that they made it to the SB, and except for another amazing Giants' drive, could have won the game........which all basically translates to....they are a very good team as of now.

Belichick is a really good coach and runs a good team. A lot of people don't realize though that he credits a lot of his team-building approach to Shanahan, the guy we like to run down, despite everything he has accomplished and the high regard he is held in the league.

If Belichick were in charge here, we would hear things like "he has zero playoff appearances without Brady" or "he sucks at drafting; does Laurence Maroney or Chad Jackson ring a bell?" or he keeps drafting corners but has yet to find a good one".

Belichick is a top-3 coach in this league (even if Brady has a lot to do with that) and does a good job of reloading on the fly. Then again, how smart can a guy who re-hired Josh McDaniels really be?
Hoping for a defensive-minded head coach and a return to the ZBS on offense. At the very least, no more cheaters for head coach.

We were going nowhere but down with Shanny, his awful drafts, never fixing the defense among other things.

And yes, Belechik is a great coach, probably the best coach in the league.

but when he lost his great defensive teams he is like everybody else he cant win the SB. He lost his QB and still goes 11-5. That tells u what kind of team they have. And thats why he is so good. oh and he cant win a superbowl without that defensive team, he has brady, what does that tell u. the QB will get u there but u have to have a solid team to win.

Disagree our offense was on the rise. Marshall, Cutler, Scheftler, Hillis, and Royal's rookie season. Shanahan knew all he had to do was draft defense next year, and he even said it. Shanahan believed the Broncos were one year away from the playoffs. Then we got rid of him for McDaniels and we all know how that worked out. Thankfully Elway and Fox swooped in to fix that mess.

We won 2 Super Bowls with Shanahan, and after Elway's retirement we became a team driven by defense and the running game. In the post-Elway era, with the exception of 2 seasons (2007 and 2008), we mostly had top-10 defenses.

Shanahan emphasizes defense. The narrative that he doesn't care about defense is ridiculously short-sighted and based on 2 seasons out of the decade-plus that he has been coaching.

Hey bud......I was going to add some Bronco stuff, so as to qualify for the Broncos football section, but I didn't. But you did.........

By the way.....I don't want this to be a Shanny / McD thread (starting now.....AC1 got his foot in the door, so he is exempt til this point).

Just curious as to how a winning organization with so much potential on the team and in the draft, keeps restocking at such a high level. I didn't do a complete check, but I believe their 14 signings from other teams is easily the most this year. Guess what that tells you is that you can't get comfortable even on the more successful teams, under the watchful eye of one of the most crafty leaders in the NFL.

I really think it's the QB Can. Without Brady, Belichick is a talented coach that has never made the playoffs. This trend is clearer when you look at highly capable coaches like Cowher (never won a SB without Big Ben), Jeff Fisher (only reached the SB when he had Steve McNair), Tony Dungy (Manning).

Having Brady gives Belichick the consistency to keep winning. The continued winning gives him the confidence to keep thinking long-term.

Shanahan isn't very good at running a team.

He's never won without Elway and a part of that reason and the drafting is why he was let go.

I would say Belicheat learned from Parcells.

They're a well run organization, but the end of the day they're just another football team that can be beat. Not worried

One of if not the best run organization in all of sports if not just the NFL, very good team.

Have made some really good signings.

Unfortunately they'll probably add more picks next year, sigh....
