He's the best starting cornerback we've had opposite Champ Bailey IMO.
    Agree with you on this...

At his salary, I think this is a good move but losing him doesn't help our product on the field

Wish he'd have cut the salary in half n we could keep him but it doesn't always workout that way

Thiss...DWill consistently got beat on hook routes n comeback routes...he's actually the one who gave up the completion that set up the OT FG that costed us the playoffs in '06, also was the night of his wrongful passing because of Brandon Marshall FTR

RIP...but he's been overrated as a player ever since

I'm guessing CB becomes a need now in the draft.

    - Champ isn't getting any younger, but i suppose he could just get better with age ala Woodson, and others.

    - Porter only signed a 1-yr deal and could bolt next year like Bunkley.

    - The rest of the CB's aren't long-term starters except maybe Harris.

No he wasn't ...higher ceiling but way overrated on here since his passing, people (including myself) were SO frustrated at how often he got beat on comebacks trying to play like Champ I.e. the play that set up the FG that took us out of the playoffs in '06 as stated in above post

Maybe they talked to him about restructuring for awhile? and couldnt work something out? (just speculating here) so then they released him.

Probably to see if Porter would get suspended, don't see why he would, only had i think 1 sack with NO in 4 years.

Or to maybe restructure, and he said no, i think he'll catch on somewhere else.

I wish Goodman the best and I appreciate everything he did for us. He was a good CB who had the unenviable task of starting opposite Champ Bailey and a lot of people on this forum didn't appreciate that. Porter is going to have his work cut out for him, too.

Was kinda wondering that myself but in the scheme of things I actually think they're being timely here ...

My best guess would be as others have mentioned contract restructure but I also think it has to do with the ability to acquire a couple more players before and after the draft ...

Goodman was a quality starter and player on the roster..I wouldn't think they would just release him because of knee jerk reaction to the cap..Taking the time to get some of the pieces in place and an ideal of whom is still avaible before they decided to release him ...

If I was to really be reading into things

My guess if they sign DT Marcus Thomas then the visit by Worthy didn't go so well

Hello Dre Kirkpatrick. Seems the Broncos are showing their hand.

    Thanks Goodman for the work.

The Broncos already have two starting outside corners and Harris to play nickle. The depth isnt horrible.

CB isnt a need next season, but down the road, sure. The point about Porters contract is a good one, but I think its hard to argue then that corner is a need. I would be surprised to see the Broncos draft a CB in the first/second. They might spend a later round pick on a corner. But right now the Broncos have NFL caliber corners. Im excited about the blend the Broncos have there. They need to fill holes and address other positions imo.

Can't say I'm suprised with this one.

Hopefully this cap space is going to be used on the D-line.

Looks like Tracy Porter will be our starting corner next to Champ. Unless he's suspended or we draft a stud.
