    Kubiak and Manning

If Fox were to by some miracle be fired by Elway at the end of the season or even just end up retiring, I would love for Elway to bring back Kubes as HC for the next era of broncos football with Brock(he'd be perfect for that system IMO). But with Peyton already saying he is staying here for another year at least I'm wondering if kubes and manning could work together even if it's just for a year? What are your thoughts?

I like Kubiak but not as our HC.

Gary Kubiak is a WCO guy who, like Shanahan, likes to pair that passing attack with Alex Gibbs' Zone Series rushing attack. WCO is very complex and specific in its calls which are very long since they tell the formation, where each eligible receiver lines up in it, shifts and motion and which route each runs.

If I'm not mistaken, when Manning was at Indy they used balanced formations with little motion. Since he has been at Denver, that has changed since the Broncos use unbalanced formations like Bunch and utilize motion with Z and H receivers.

The big difference between Kubiak's and Manning's offensive philosophy would be the latter's fondness of reading coverages and calling plays while the playclock is winding down. That practice necessitates a way of communicating at the LOS which is complex for those hearing the signals, but is much simpler than a WCO system.

IMO, in order for Kubiak and Manning to work together, the latter would need to surrender some autonomy and the former would need to allow a simplification of his system.

Whether or not Kubiak would favor a rushing attack which is a mix of angle blocking and zone steps, or if he would want to be strictly zone is another issue.

It would only have to work for one year; maybe two.

Sure. IIRC, Manning is in the third year of a five year contract.

When I think about a ShannyKube offense, I think about rollouts and boots, something that is not a strength of Mannings.

Yeah, but it's Brocks strength (just saying).

I was thinking the same thing. I do believe good coaches, however, should be able to adapt to the players' abilities and talents. Kubiak is a good coach IMHO. He would be willing to adapt his Offense to the available players on the roster. The Elway-Kubiak partnership worked well for us before. I really believe this would Kubiak's dream job. No one would question his loyalty or commitment to the Denver Broncos. Bottom line is, I, as a fan would absolutely love this move!!!!

Doesn't seem like a good idea to reinvent the wheel at this stage of the game. I think the overhaul is coming at some point, but sometimes you've got to be careful what you wish for.

As much as I appreciate what Manning has brought to the table, I feel like a "somewhat" mobile QB offers one more dimension the defense has to account for. The predictable nature of our play calling is a topic of much discussion as of late. DC's have been watching tape for three years now and the chickens have come home to roost. Unless we unveil a new wrinkle real damn quick, we're toast come playoff time. JMHO

Precisely. Brock will have a great chance to succeed in that play action/bootleg/roll out offense where he can use his above average mobility, accuracy and that cannon of an arm. I might go as far as to say he could look rodgers esque in it.Quite honestly it looks like in a way Elway is setting up our future personnel to fit perfectly with Kubes offense, whether or not it's on purpose. DT, Sanders, and Latimer are all great deep threats and good tough blockers. JT is an elite receiving right end if he could ever learn to block. If not i have confidence in Green that he could develop as a better receiver, he's already a great blocker. Anderson, Ball, And Hillman would all be better off running in the ZBS full time. Thompson could easily move to full back as well. We would just need to add a few pieces to the O-line( Iupati & Bulaga @ LG & RT and Hroniss Grasu @ C in the first round??) Brock will have the best chance to succeed if he is given a strong running game and a top 5 defense which we already have. We have a good chance of making the transition from the Manning era to the OZ era seamless. the pieces to the puzzle just have to work out at the right time.

I agree with u! I said basically the same in another thread, but used Jake as the measuring board! But I do believe that he has enough pieces to succeed. His ability to better utilize the vertical passing attack, as well as his better mobility for boots and roll-outs.

And even if it's not Brock, but another QB, I see mobility being a big part of that search for those reasons.

A combination of a Kubiak led O, and Rex Ryan led D sounds very enticing IMO.

Word is Kubiak's wife and dr. would like him to remain in a OC position not a head coach where there is less stress. I could see him coming in after Gase is hired elsewhere, but probably after Manning retires because his offensive scheme is so different than what Denver runs now. I always loved Kubiak and he is not egocentric and will design the offense to fit the players he has. He would probably be willing to move his family because he lived in Denver a long time maybe although they just moved across the country. He may not want to leave the Ravens and who knows, maybe he does want to be a head coach again and will seek that.

This would be perfect. Especially if we were able to turn Rex into our Dick Le Beau. This teams talent even without manning has dynasty potential. We just need the right coaches.

None of this will ever happen because:

    A- Manning is our QB
B- you don't fire a HC that has won 4 straight division titles. It just never bodes well. (See early 2000's Chargers and 1980's Houston Oilers)
