If Manning stays, then whomever it is needs be able to be a coach to Manning. I like Manning, but there should to be somebody who can take from his uniquely experienced perspective and still have the final say. That doesn't have to put PM on a short leash, but it should define boundaries where the coach is the end all, not just another vote in a collaboratively run organization.
Gase, for that reason alone, in my opinion, would be a disaster.
