Hope you enjoyed the extended stretch between games, but it is time to get back to it. The Broncos has a close win in a hard hitting game vs the Panthers. They tried to upset our opening day celebration, but some hard hits on Cam, some heads up play under pressure by Trevor and a good time out to ice the kicker helped get us the win.
The run game looked pretty great other than Booker coughing it up on his first touch. I loved the full back being in there. It was like shades of the Howard Griffith days. The W was important as KC and Oak both fought back hard to win their games. We are in a tough fight this year for the AFC West.
This weeks opponent is the Colts. Who beat us last year on the road and the year before they knocked us out of the playoffs at home. Luck won lasts years game, but he lost the war as he out the rest of the year and Manning and Denver won the Super Bowl. Luck is still a play maker, but Indy has issues that our team should be able to exploit. Luck tried to pull out the win , but the Lions just kept going and going. Luck did end up 31-47 for 385 yards a 4 tds. They had 4 receivers who put up bigger numbers than DT or Sanders. Dorsett went 4 for balls for 94 yards. The No fly zone needs to live up to its name.
So how do we do in our game # 2 of the season? Well in the last 10 years (Kubes/Fox/McDaniels/Shanny) We sport a 9 - 1 record. We are 7 - 0 at home, and 2-1 on the road. Pretty impressive. What would also be impressive is if we can keep the home streak going. We played far from perfect but there were good signs.
The O-line looked better opening up the running lanes. The D was able to get some pressure on when they needed to, especially after a first half where they look disjointed. CJ was off to a strong start and helped in both running and receiving. Siemian did not look horrible. The moment did not seem to big for him. He made some good plays and had a few teachable moments out there. Kid will only get better with experience. There will be some bumps, but I am hoping for another "W" this week. Maybe hard as DT seems to be suffering from a hip injury.
I have no idea what the season will bring, but I am going to enjoy the ride and hope Elway & Kubes knows what they are doing and get the young talent to mesh with the Vets where we can be effective and avoid some of those growing pains. It was good to see the offense the way Kubes wanted it to be played, some play action, some bootlegs and a QB who wants to pass first before they use their legs, but is not afraid to take off if needed. Looking forward to seeing us gel together.
As a reminder, please be mindful of what you post.Let's make it easier for the mods so they can enjoy the game as well. Please follow the COC and thank you for helping making this board great. As always looking forward to a great season. GO BRONCOS!!!
