    Ricky Williams to the Broncos?

Everyone is talking about how we need to upgrade the running game well what about the idea of bringing in High-As-A-Kite Ricky Williams from the Miami Dolphins?

There is no question that Ricky has the talent to be one of the top 5 RB's in the NFL and he is a downhill runner who would do nicely in the Broncos zone blocking one-cut and go scheme.

Now that Nick Saban, who was Ricky's only real backer in Miami, is gone I am sure the Miami front office and new coaching regime will want nothing more than to get rid of the troubled Williams.

There is significant risk in the signing, but after that year long suspension the price to acquire Williams would be minimal and the interest on Shanahan's part is there considering he was really thinking about acquiring Williams last year.

Also at the end of the 2005 season Williams was running great for the Dolphins and had actually become their primary back again and was a huge reason the ended that season with 6 straight wins. Plus Williams has had minimal wear on his body the last 3 years so he should be well rested and ready to go.

I think the risk is worth the reward if you can get Williams for a 5th or 6th rounder because he could be the power back the Broncos need to control games and help Cutler in his 2nd season and first as the full-time starter.

I think he would be a good pick up if we could get him cheap, He's less of a risk than Clarret was.

If he signed a new contract with all kinds of stipulations in it to protect the Broncos, then it would be a great signing.

I'm all for it for a 4th -6th round value but nothing more.

If he has his chit together he is one of the top 3 backs in the league.

I watched Williams play in the CFL last season with the Argos and either I had cheap seats or he is not 228 pounds anymore.

Im not sure if I would pull the trigger and throw anything more then a 6th rounder for him.

The fans sure liked him last year

Rumor has it that he's a lot more light and quicker, and looks like a Clinton Portis type now since he left the CFL... I'd be all for that, as long as he stays clean

    No way.

Ricky Williams was average in the CFL.

Williams is done, and will NEVER be the back he once was. Taking time off of training does that to you, and despite what anyone thinks, you rarely ever get that back.

I disagree.....the CFL is a different League and from what I understand, his team had marginal talent. I don't care where you play, if the guys up front don't get the Defenders blocked, it does not matter..

Ricky showed last year with his great performance running against a VERY stout San Diego Defense that he still has it....I also think he is PERFECT for the Broncos system.

Williams and the Dolphins also have little to no leverage, so he would be cheap, and the Broncos could simply give him a base contract with some incentives.

Little to no risk for a potentially huge payoff?

    What's not to like?

Quit on his team...been there, done that (Quitterson anybody)

We lose him by midseason...I am not convinced that he has given up the habit

If Shanahan made such a move, I would say that I feel he was letting the fans down, he needs youth and needs to coach, not let questionable players' keep filling the roster because they or may not succeed.

I think there are some real sound halfbacks in this years draft, Denver may or may not go for Lynch...I think as of now they are highly interested -- but there are some very valuable athletes later in the draft that are more worth the risk then Williams and maybe better in the end - Darby, Irons, Walker, Dawson, Russell and so on...no way, let the Chong of the NFL remain where he is.

Honestly, I'd think I'd rather have Ilaoa from Hawaii picked up in the draft in round 4 more than trade if for Ricky.

We would need to structure a very easy contract laced with incentives.

I say do it but it must be very cheap........VERY CHEAP.
