the yankees are just a lightning rod for this stuff because they spend so much more than everybody else and they're the yankees...if the yanks didn;t have the awesome history they already did they might get a little less crap but when you add in their 26 championships and now the payroll stuff, they're a very easy target...the mets, this year anyway, had epic injuries, but you're right, they are part of the problem....if they didn;t choke it away every year down the stretch they would get crap too

such a heart warning tale...the team with the highest payroll goes out and spends almost a half billion more in the off season by signing the top 3 free agents and they win the world series... it's like a movie script

and yeah i know the same old story, payroll doesn;t guarantee a championship... but it's gets you in the ballpark....injuries are usually the thing that keep the higher payrolls from being close at the end....i'm not sure why i even argue this crap....my team will be in the mix, we spend near the top...the small market teams can f-off...that's the attitude, right?
What excuses? I don't make excuses. I refuse to take blame for MLB not having a salary cap. I refuse to feel guilty because the owner of my team is committed to winning. I feel great when my team wins.

I'd welcome a salary cap.

The Yankees are my favorite team in my favorite sport. I follow their players from the draft, including sweating out when certain players don't sign. I get my heart broken when a favorite prospect doesn't pan out, be it due to injury, ineffectiveness, or simply not being given a chance due to big contracts on the major league level. Favor a system with lower payrolls, meaning prospects are forced to play at the major league level? So do I. Preaching to the choir.

I was told nothing in life was fair before I was 10 years old, so I have a little difficulty with that concept.

My team wins, i'm elated. they lose, I'm miserable. I go through that on a daily basis. I'll freely admit to being spoiled rotten by my team.... and I deserve to be. Hell will freeze over before I feel guilt about a Yankees championship.

MLB has the worst commissioner of any sport. Tell Bud to do his damn job for a change. Better yet, give me even a small portion of the $20 mil. he makes and let me run the game. Guaranteed I'd focus on more than the all star game (the one baseball game I refuse to watch.... still means nothing to me, even though home field advantage is tied to it).

Other teams can spend whatever they wish. Doesn't bother me a bit. Let Bud fix the system, but don't hold your breath waiting me to feel anything less than elation when my team wins it all.

.....and it's SO predictable. Can't beat 'em? Whine about payroll.

It's made all the worse by Buck and McCarver not being able to go 2 sentences without mentioning payroll.

Yankees bad. Everyone else good.

We get it. Knew it in the 70's and aren't in need of constant reminders.
