Sleepers: RB's
who are your late round sleepers this year?
i'm looking at: lee suggs willis mcgahee tatem bell--obviously steven jackson--marshall will miss at least two games kevin jones whoever backs up Fred Taylor actually, these guys won't really be sleepers, but they're getting new starts and may be more valuable than last year: corey dillon--obviously charlie garner rudi johnson __________________

Greg Jones of the Jags could be usefull in TD leagues. They want to use him like Alstot which could mean alot of goaline chances.
Too bad for Freddy T. Someone's always stealing his touchdowns! |

ahhh, man. i would love to see what greg jones can do in the nfl, but for fantasy purposes, there's nothing worse than i guy who comes in solely to score the short touchdown . . . unless, of course, you're in a league that highly favors touchdowns. i read somewhere earlier this year that Jack Del Rio was going to give the ball to Fragile Freddy a ton this year. last year, freddy said he could be an every down back and jack gave him the chance and he did well. came up short of his 2000 yd goal, but they've been saying he'll do even better this year. but that's all for naught if he never scores.

I don't consider any of those guys you mentioned sleepers.
A sleeper to me would be someone like: Quincy Wilson Josh Scobey Antwone Womack Clarence Farmer Troy Flemming Derrick Ward LaBrandon Toefield Tony Hollings Verron Haynes Chester Taylor Adrian Peterson Check out my DARK PHOENIX article online at Fantasy Football Journal I break down the super sleeper rookies, also check out my pre-draft analysis for some more good info! |

Does Julius Jones count as a sleeper? I would go with him as a sleeper if you guys actually consider him to be a sleeper.

IMHO a sleeper is someone that the average fan doesn't really know about. These guys have talent and are just waiting for a chance. Two years ago Rudi Johnson led the preseason in rushing and I had him on my Practice Squad. No one else knew about him, and that's how I classify a sleeper. Again, that's just my opinion.
From the backs you've mentioned you have to go with Kevin Jones and Lee Suggs. McGahee would be nice too, but I think it'll be 2005 before he gets the starting job full time. Looks like it's RBBC in Buffalo for this year at least. Tatum looked decent in mini camp. His hands are a liability at this point (don't worry, so were Portis' at the same time). He got winded way too easily up here in the mountain air, but that should come around. It will be RBBC in Denver as well this year. Toefield is almost a Fred Taylor clone, not only in ability, but in the fact that he's never been able to stay healthy dating back to high school. You might see Greg Jones in a role similiar to the one Stacey Mack had when he was a Jaguar. Greg Jones is a great power back, but questions remain about his hands so he will be a goal line back this year and perhaps get a shot next year. Stephen Jackson is a great receiver, but other than that he doesn't fit the Rams system very well. Marshall will more than likely miss some time, but I don't expect Jackson to take his job. When Marshall is healthy he is the clear cut starter. So again, go with Suggs or Kevin Jones. |

Chris Brown is under the radar now but he will be in the limelight when/if George gets cut.

yep, i'm looking forward to seeing how Brown does. he's got a lot of potential but i think he could just as easily be a bust.

If Chris Brown is a bust, don't overlook Troy Flemming. He is the 1st all time prep rushing leader in the great state of Tennessee. he has a ton of talent, and is just waiting for a chance. |
