I miss Ashley Lelie...
Yep, as much disgust as he earned himself with the way he got himself trade, I miss having him on the Broncos. I've been watching a number of Broncos games and highlights of the past few years and Ashley stood out quite a bit.

Now, I know he wasn't a complete receiver but I would really love to have his deep threat ability on the team right now. Not including his first 2 seasons, Lelie had really become great at blowing by defenders or outleaping them and making the big grab. Yes, he usually fell down even without serious contact but a 40 yard grab and a flop is better than no 40 yard catch at all.

Now that Javon and Rod gone, I feel like Lelie would really add a needed dimension to the team and would probably be our #2 receiver.

I would love to see Marshall and Lelie on the outsides and Stokley in the slot with Scheffler and/or Graham at TE on pasing downs. With defenses having to respect Lelie way deep and then Marshall drawing double-teams, defenses would just have their hands full covering too many options for Cutler. As it is, defenses don't have to respect our deep game as much, unless one of our new guys proves to be a reliable deep threat.

Anyway, I know a lot of you will think I'm crazy because of how much you dislike him now but I still think Lelie could be filling a valuable role for us. Oh, well. No use crying over spilled milk, I guess.

He messed with Shanahan. Unfortunately that means no 2nd chance.

Lelie... Couldn't catch a cold, and was a huge bust, our play action roll out helped his career...When he left what happened? All that speed hands of stone...wont go across the middle....Where's Eddy when you need him?

Agreed. If he hadntbeen such a turd, he could hve been a great #2 for us now that Jay can lunch them.

I beg to differ. Lelie could catch just fine after his first two seasons. But his short to mid game was definitely lacking. And he actually wasn't a half-bad downfield blocker after awhile.

He wasn't a complete receiver but he did one thing well: catching the deep ball.

It is sad because over his years with the Broncos he made slow but steady improvement each year, except his last. For some reason he wasn't patient and didn't want to wait for his time and held out and whined. What's ironic is that his desire was to be the number one receiver. Since his trade to Atlanta and signing with the Niners, he is nowhere near the number two receiver he was with the Broncos. See what lack of patience does?

Wow, Al is a completely different story. While I kind of miss Lelie, I seriously miss Big Al. He was one of my faves, for sure. Sad to see his career end like that.

Yeah, he should have just accepted his role and taken the nice pay raise he was going to get if he'd just stayed here and kept his mouth shut. Some guys are just meant to be role-players and there's nothing wrong with that. C'est la vie!

I agree...... He really could catch.....the way he went up for the deep pass was a lot like Randy Moss...He just got aligator arms when he went across the middle......I agree also that he would be a nice compliment to our recieving corps. He would add the speed element that we are going to be missing this year. But Shanny isnt the kinda guy that forgives, so I would say we have a better chance of getting Eddie Kennison back

I loved the fact that he was so fast and so tall too at 6'3. To bad he really did screw himself over here ending his chance at doing anything.

Oh yeah, there's no way he's coming back. I was just thinking about how sucky it is that he forced his way out of town and burned his bridges along the way.

He got his way but look what it got him... nothing. I think both sides would have been better off if he'd just stuck around and played his role. Oh, well.

Yeah but if he would have stayed...would we have drafted Marshall?? With all the attitude and baggage I would rather have marshall over Lelie... ANY DAY
