My Two Days at Camp
I have re-located out of the Denver area since last year, so I don't have the chance to see as many practices as I once did, so Wednesday and Thursday were fun days to go up and see the Boys get after it...

Notes

QB's
Cutler has an unusual maturity about him. That was particularly evident today with his ball fakes, which were real good and belied the fact that he is just a rookie. It is early, but this guy looks like the real deal so far...Plummer has been impressive for the most part, and I am looking forward to him having some new weapons to work with this year....BVP looks like BVP. He just looks like a guy that will never truly get the nuances of being an legit NFL QB.

RB's
Mike Bell, to me, has been the most impressive back so far. He has not run much against the first team Defenses, so I think you have to temper any excitement by stating that fact....but so far, so good. I think he is a lock to make the team as the third RB at this point and, much to my personal disappointment, Cedric Cobbs looks like he will be among the first cuts. Dayne and T Bell have both had their moments. I think we are destined to seeing what we have over the last two years, the RB X Committee thing...neither looks like he will take the job and run away with it at this point.....Sapp looks like he is playing really well at FB.

WR's
Javon looks great so far, and really gives the Broncos a major weapon thay have not had in a while....fingers crossed that Javon will stay on his current track without a setback...Rod strained a hammy yesterday, so he was ltd. in his practice time, but of course, no one needs to worry about what Rod brings to the table...I have been inpressed with Darius Watts. He has great separation skills and always seems to get open. He still has the occasional, annoying drop, but over the last two days, he made some unbelieveable, circus-like catches....here's hoping he keeps it up. Brandon Marshall looks like all he has been reputed to be, and I think is a lock to make the team. The kid just oozes talent....the suprise here for me and the others in attendance has been David Kircus. This guy just keeps making play after play and it is obvious the Coaches are impressed with him, because he is getting in on more and more reps with the first team....he also seems to have made a friend of Jake Plummer as the two seem to be constantly around one another on the sidelines....I think Kircus has a great chance to make the team....Todd Devoe looks to me like he is in serious jeopardy of making the squad....Charlie Adams never seems to do much as a receiver, but his punt return skills and ST's play are once again his ticket to making the roster....David Terrell has also stated his case to make the team and has generally looked good, and yesterday the Broncos signed former 49er first round pick, Rashaun Woods, so the competition keeps getting thicker and thicker.

TE's
Scheffler looks great...this guy is really going to be good for us...and I love the fact he and Cutler get to 'grow up' together....Alexander has been solid and steady.....the suprise so far as been the super-sized Chad Mustard. This guy looks like an OT at 6'5"-277...but he has soft hands and is a good-looking blocker. He lined up alot in the last two days in double-TE short yardage situations, and has been getting time with the first team. Don't be suprised if this guy makes the team. Nate Jackson has been banged up and missed all of the practices I attended, which looks like it could really hurt his chances.

O-Line
The line has been everything you would have come to expect....athletic, consistent and efficient....B Hamilton missed some time at LG and his replacement on the starting line was Chris Myers...The new guy, Adam Meadows looked good today. Eslinger has looked like everything you would expect and I think will make the team as well....D Carwell has lined up all over, including as the backup LT, and looks like he is fully recovered from his auto accident. I would expect he will make the final roster once again, which is good to see. There are some talented youngsters here as well, Kuper, Eric Pears, etc...it will be interesting to see who makes it.

D-Line
Concerns remain here. This, to me, has been the single-biggest oversight of the offseason for the Broncos brass. I just don't know where that outside pass rush will come from, but one place it won't looks like Elvis Dumervil. For some reason, he lined up strictly at DT in every rep I saw...at 5'11"-255 or so, I just don't see how he can help at DT. The Broncos are short at DT, so players like Dumervil and Ekuban have seen time at DT, which can't be a good thing....I don't know if they are just expirimenting or what, but this remains a large area of concern, IMO. Kenard Lang has shown flashes, but I did not see anything great about Corey Jackson.....also interesting to note Trevor Pryce's statements in Wednedays USA Today where he was critical of the Broncos scheme on the D-Line. He may have a point....overall, disappointing.

LB's
Deep and talented, just like we expected. Al Wilson plays it up to the crowd top get thgem involved. He is the unquestioned leader and a super Pro....but you already knew that... I have always been a fan of Louis Green and I continue to be one today....Chukwurah never seems to be able to take that next step...you know K Burns will make the team, so players like Green and Nate Webster will have to carve their place out on ST's, because it looks like the Broncos can only afford to carry (6) LB's

DB's
I won't waste your time glossing Champ Bailey....the future Hall of Famer looked amazing, as always. D Will had a pick on Wednesday that he took to the house, and he ran down Tatum Bell on a long run today...Foxworth was physical today and has looked good. At this stage, I would have to say D Wil has the nod as the starter....but not by much....The Broncos seem to like a young Safety #21 Abdullah (?-I am going from memory here as I don't have the roster in front of me)...he seems to be getting a long look and has played well...Sam Brandon missed all of the sessions I attended, so I don't know if that has allowed Abdullah the extra reps...Curome Cox should make the team as Ferguson's backup....Lynch and Ferguson looked solid, and Lynch had more than a few trademark 'blowups' on various RBs, TE's and WR's...the dude can still bring the lumber....Midlebrooks, Roc Alexander, etc seem to be bunched together fighting for the last CB roster spot.

ST
Elam was perfect on several FG attemts yesterday, including one that shattered someones windshield directly behind the goal post...Sauerbrun kicked the hell out of the ball, but since he is suspended for the first four games, that leaves the dutied to either Paul Ernster, or (gasp!) Micah Knorr....here' hoping Ernster gets the nod...

Charlie Adams was still the best punt returner I saw....but overall, returns are an area of concern, as ususal..

Well, that's it...

great report. Nice to see another view from the other reports.
Im suprised that you done see Dummerville doing much though. All the other reports have been raving about him, saying that he is doing a great job even at DT.

I don't think he has done poorly...I just wonder about his effectiveness at DT...but hey, what do I know? I like the kid, and I hope he does well...I just have my concerns about the D-Line in general.

From what I have read they wouldn't make him a DT full time. DE is his natural position and what I see is them moving around to find favorable match ups.
