Hi all. I'm not quite sure where to post this question but here looks as good a place as any:

I was wondering where I can buy dvd's of various matches from the past decade? I specifically want the matches New York Jets @ LA Raiders in 1993 and Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos in 1993.

My boyfriend is a Broncos fan and is trying to teach me a bit about the game (and recruit me as a Broncos fan too!). The above games are two he has seen live - we are from Melbourne Australia and have to watch whatever Fox shows, which isn't a lot of Broncos matches

Hope you can help!

HMM....youmay be stuck with VHS, or whatever video tape format they use in Australia. (I know its a different format)> Perhaps one of our members has one of them new fangles DVD burners and can do that for you if they can score a tape. I am sure NFL filsm could help you out, but I don't think they sell random games. It couldn't hurt to write them and ask for permission, since it would be non-commercial use.

Thanks Jared - I've called them and left a message so hopefully they'll be able to assist. Though they did say something about not having full matches because of copyright laws or some such thing. It's weird - because in Australia we can get a copy of any match from pretty much any Aussie Rules Football season for at least the last 15 years (and from finals way before that). It's a service called Name a Game - and I think it's about $35AUD for a tape. I just assumed you guys would have the same kind of thing, but evidently not.

Believe it or not, i found games on VHS from the good ol' Internet. It takes searches, but you'll find some games recorded by other fans. I also found old games on Ebay, so you might want to look there as well.

LOL. If there was any doubt in anyones mind that you are from Australia, calling it a football match should have dispelled it. Not making fun, just fascinated at the different version of English out there. In reality, they are dialects. I think the only thing Americans refer to as a match is a game of tennis and the things we use to light fires.

No, we wouldn't have the same thing you have. Copyright law mostly, is probably different from Australian copyright law. Since technically speaking, NFL Films is not run by the NFL. Sure, it has a monopoly contract, but it is not owned by the NFL. Therefore, since the NFL owns rights to the images, along with the players union, to all games, not the networks, they can choose to allow whatever they want to be shown. That is why NFL Films always has those 30 minute or hour long 'specials' of games. They are not allowed to re-broadcast the games.

ESPN CLassic does re-broadcast games, but they are still not 100% in their entirety. They often cut things for time considerations.

NFL Films does have something like a 30+ year footage vault, mostly of playoff games, It wasn't until the 80's that they were a presence at every single NFL game.

I visted once. I grew up in Pennsylvania, about 45 minutes from where they are in New Jersey. Absolutely fascinating.

And of course, this being the old good old USA, lawyers have put rules in place for everything that MUST be followed, so basically, someone's old VCR tape is the way to get an ENTIRE game, of course, you will also get commercials in there as well.

The NFL Films stuff is very well done though.

On a whim, you may want to call up or write to the Broncos organization just to see if they would be willing (for a fee, of course) to run off some copies of anything they have.

Did you ever get the tapes/dvds? I'd post you a link to another board that has a person that has tapes from all the way back into the 70's, but I'm afraid it'd get deleted/I'd get banned!! (And we don't want that happening, now do we? :P) email me or PM me on here, I'll email you from there.
