Aloha Guys, I just wanted to start a conversation and and see everyones thought on this upcoming fight between former UFC champion Randy "Captain America" Couture and Former boxing champion James "Lights Out" Toney. I can only see Toney winning with a really well timed punch, But other than i can see Randy taking him down as soon as possible to ground 'n pound. It should be an interesting fight to say though, But all in all Couture has a big advantage. Have a good one, Mahalo & GOD bless.

Its a lose lose situation for the UFC, in my opinion.

Either Randy takes down and over the hill, out of shape boxer and beats him on
the ground like we all expect.. And that changes no ones opinion on the matter

OR

Toney gets the one punch that rocks Randy and wins in a huge upset.

Then we just have another old boxer beating and ex UFC HW champ (Mercer over
Sylvia).

This is what people want, I guess. They want the freak show. Toney has been out of shape for how long? Toney should still have power, but Couture is going to take the fight to the canvas, and it'll be over. Best thing Toney can do is learn to sprawl, and force Couture to strike with him. Then Toney can counter punch and knock him out. That presents another problem, leg strikes. Toney is probably going to be out of gas half way through the first round anyway. As long as Couture fights conservatively, there's no way JT can win this fight. He must really need the cash to reduce himself to this.

except randy is older than james toney? i don't think age should even be brought into the argument at all.

if the guy is out of shape that's his fault.

that said, i think randy needs to be careful because he very well could get KO'd by this guy.

The difference is that Toney can clearly not cut it in his own sport (boxing) anymore
and Randy still can in MMA. So what does beating an old boxer who can't be
competitive in boxing anymore do for MMA?? Nothing.

if somehow Randy decided to keep it standing I don't like his chances.

Randy by unanimous decision or submission.

My question is about Randy's chin.

It hasn't been tested in a while.

A boxer like Toney with those 4 inch gloves on is a bit scary.
