Cincinnati's Joey Votto is the overwhelming choice as the National League's Most Valuable Player.

The Reds' first baseman received 31 first-place votes and 443 points in voting announced Monday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols was second with the remaining first-place vote and 279 points. He won the award in 2005, 2008 and 2009.

Votto was a first-time All-Star. He finished second in the NL in average at .324 and third in homers (37) and RBIs (113).

Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez was third in the vote with 240 points. He was followed by San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez (197), Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki (132) and Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay (130).

Votto deserved it, no doubt. He had a fantastic year.

I'm a little surprised about Pujols being in second or Halladay being so low, but it's nothing major I guess.

Haha that was funny, I don't see a Cubs player winning anything for a while.

Anyways, I like Votto, he is a great player whom deserved this win.
I hope Miguel Cabrera wins AL, but seeing how there are a few Evil Empire players up for the award, and Josh Hamilton, he might not win.

Out of their active roster, I would say the best bet would be Geovany Soto, but even he is light years away from the season Votto, Pujols, and CarGo had.

Josh Hamilton will win AL, there's no doubt in my mind about it.
