It was 2001, our 1-15 season.

The last time we were swept by a divisional rival after that was the 2005 season, when Denver turned the trick by beating us in Week 2 & Week 17, hurting Drew Brees' throwing shoulder & effectively ending his career in San Diego.

I'm not a Raider fan, but find it hard to understand how a team can sweep the division and miss the play-offs (leading KC atm) to a team that has only won 2 divisional games (KC). KC is losing now and very well could finish with a 2-4 record in the division, and still win the AFC west. Raiders could finish 6-0 and be in 3rd place in the AFC west.

Division games only account for 37% of the schedule. So while it's unusual, it's not extremely unlikely.

I read or heard somewhere that Al Davis told Tom Cable he cared about sweeping the AFC West this year. And with the close games we were in against non-divisional opponents this season, we have a shot at winning the division next season.

I know where you're talking about, I can't remember where I saw the quote or article. It was something to the effect of winning division games because since 2002 we were 7-35 in the division.
