We need something to do! Not much going on lately because of the off-season and other factors so I figured we might as well make something happen!

Anyways Lets see how smart we are in the field of sports outside of football! I will ask a trivia question no more than once a day and CP the correct answer.

Anyone else can feel free to ask their own trivia questions to.

Lets have some fun!:peace:

When A Rod was first drafted, he started his career here in Appleton, which was host to the Mariner's A-Club minor league team.

CP to who can guess the current Boston Red Sox player who also played here in Appleton. :salute:

I double checked, and apparently when Varitek started his minor league career he signed with the independent league in St Paul. When he signed with the Mariners, he started at AA in Port City.

Bah I should know this, but my brain is failing me. Pujols is def one player. I've made a ton of guesses for the other two, looked them up, and ended up being wrong.

I'm stumped.

One surprised me because I thought he was hurt in one of his first 9 years. You go down the names and think oh yeah it's gotta be this guy, but it turns out to be wrong. I heard the question, but if I guessed, I would've been wrong 99 out of 100 times.

I've wrongly guessed Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Mel Ott, Johnny Mize, Adam Dunn, and Mark McGwire.

I think I have a second one...Darryl Strawberry! Looked up my guess and was correct.

The answers are all in this thread, just not one single post. :D First one to list them gets the CP.

One of the guys you guessed hit 23 homeruns in his rookie year.

Albert Pujols
Eddie Mathews
Darryl Strawberry

Took me awhile to notice Matthews. Look up Frank Robinson's stats, he barely missed the list too. Unlike Kiner, he missed 25 HRs in later seasons.

Strawberry came to me quite quickly when I was thinking of '80s power hitters.

Eddie Mathews
Darryl Strawberry
Albert Pujols

Correct. CP.

When I first heard the question, I didn't get any of them. I guessed Ted Williams, A-Rod and Willie Mays. I forgot A-Rod was hurt one year, and Willie Mays hit 25+ homeruns for 13 consecutive years, starting his 3rd year. Ted Williams hit 23 homeruns in his 2nd year, just as Kiner hit 23 in his rookie year.

Straw was the one I thought was hurt in one of his first 9 years. I don't know much about Eddie Mathews to be honest. I would've guessed Pujols but I thought this was his 8th year. Can't believe this is his 11th year.

It's a more impressive feat now that I look at this list of guys who didn't do it. Congrats to Tex! :salute:

It was a great question. In my teenage days, long ago, I used to be filled with such useless baseball knowledge. Pujols came to me instantly. I'm surprised at how quickly I knew Strawberry, but I grew up watching baseball in the mid to late '80s, so I'm not totally surprised.

Mathews was the toughest for me to get to. I think I was going through the list of every 400/500 HR guy there was. I was 100% certain though that Frank Robinson was my 3rd guy at first.

Robinson was one of my guesses too. I was watching the Mike Francesca show and he threw out all the names you'd think would be on there. He got Matthews and Pujols with a little help with both. He didn't get Strawberry.

Lute Olson is 10th all time on the NCAA Men's Basketball Wins List with 780 of them. He would have a few more if his career wasn't cut short by a stroke. He was forced to leave Arizona early.

What were the two other colleges Lute Olson coached for?
