Last two possesion we haven't done squat... and when they are within a TD, that isn't good. We need to put up points and close the door on them.

Our defense, our special teams(as far as punting) is doing well, and we have all the tools we have on offense. I hate to keep harping on it, but all this points to one person. I don't think his system fits the personnel of this team any longer.

If we solve those minor problems, then we have a chance.

shoul give the guy who is getting it done the ball. When Q get healthy hopefully we will have what we wanted to have at the beginning of the year with Q and MA. You've got a big power back and a quick elusive one.. some D's are faster and susceptable to a big back and some are the reverse.

We are kind of in position to have a running attack like the Bucs did for all those years with Alstott and Dunn. That worked very effectively for them, I think both players made the Pro Bowl as well when they stayed healthy.

Plus, if they do it that way and with Bell on the roster, they could risk putting Griffin back on kick returns, Id love to see him in open field every game.

Passing to Smith sets up running. If Lelie can snag one and Jake can see Putzier behind the linebacker (every play) then Rube should beat this team silly. Score should be 21-10.

that's a good point; i read 28 somewhere, but i believe that the announcers said 29th earlier.

one thing though; droughns is getting his yards running right though their guys, not just through holes. so i think that makes a bit of a difference.

I don't like the platooning system for the fact that it's tough for a running back to get into a rhythm. Also, what happens when one is playing better than the other. Do you keep the same, or do you go with the hotter guy?

guys, obviously we arent playing our best on offense, we have had some breakdowns on defense and we are losing the battle for field position, but we are winning! That means we have yet begun to fight, buckle down and play like we're supposed to. every guy beats his man, no more settling for FG's just get big and stuff it down their throats, dont stop curning til the ref signals you to stop cause you already scored....

Jake you have to lead these guys. Let them know you are here to win and will do what it takes, they will also do what it takes and we can dominate this game.........

that was a smart call by Mike to call the time out.. it made them think we really wanted to get it back so they were forced to kneel it out rather than try a few hail mary passes.. I mean they probably wouldn't have completed any of them but it was smart to make them just kneel it out

You would call plays to emphasize the hotter guy that week. Thats how it works. If a defense is a finesse defense with lots of speed, you would send Droughns against them as the RB focus. If its a slower defense with lots of power, then you send Griffin to out finesse and jig them. Its a great system if you have the players because you can emphasize your strengths and the other teams weaknesses.

Plus, you can always just screen pass to the RB who is not the emphasis to keep him in the gameplan. Or if they can catch, send em out on slants.

Gives lots of options. Options good.

No, they are a big time power defense with Ted Washington in the middle and 4 linebackers. I would send speed against them on outside sweeps, no running up the gut, they destroy that.

Though, you would need a leading fullback to handle the 4th LB on sweeps. So if Droughns plays in that game, he will need to be fast and he will need a blocker to lead him which I guess would be Kyle Johnson.

ARBroncos
10-10-2004, 02:48 PM
well it will be good to get Q back then... seriously I know alot of us identify more with one RB than the others but if we can use them all in thier areas of strength it will be amazing.

BroncosZBlitz

But speed is a very loose term to describe Griffin. And I've never liked the idea of running outside because you're so afraid of a team inside, I've never seen it successful because it's so predicable. It's also a lot easier to get holding calls running outside.

Honestly, Id play them both in the first quarter and get a feel for how Oakland will play defense and who is the hotter back, then emphasize them the rest of the game with play calls to their strengths. Droughns can start but if his power running isnt working, theres no point beating a dead horse, try another technique with Griffin or Bell and see how taht does.
