Hmmm, looks like a good pick up depending on cost.

Decent amount of tackles and a couple of picks last couple of years.

Complaining about him being 30? Get a grip geez....30 is fine for a FA, if he were 35 then you have a point.

We really needed safety so this is a good pickup i think.

He had 64 tackles, 3 INT's, 1 FF, and 6 PD last year, not bad at all.

He is. My guess is that he will beat out Moore for the free safety job while Carter takes over the strong safety position (unless Dawkins comes back, but even then he wouldn't be a full time starter).

I'm thinking Renaldo Hill with more playmaking ability.

Broncos signed S Mike Adams, formerly of the Browns.
Adams started all 16 games at free safety last season, excelling in coverage. Rahim Moore is expected to get another shot at free safety, leaving Adams to play more in the box than he should at strong safety. According to Pro Football Focus, Adams wasn't nearly as good in run support last season.

Landry isn't that good though. He's a huge liability in coverage. He's overrated because he lays people out. But he takes bad angles and gets burned a lot. He's also almost guaranteed to be on huge amounts of steroids and HGH. Have you seen him recently? We just had 2 guys get suspended for that.

Moore gets more experience and could take over for Adams during the season or next season is how this will play out IMO.

I can tell you from first hand experience about this guy. That is im in ohio and forced to watch the garbage browns games..

He wont be like Rahim Moore getting lost out in open field. He has a good head on his shoulders. He is a good tackler and decent in coverage. Like someone else said, if he came to us cheap, then fine. I wouldnt mind seeing him and Carter as our starting Safeities to be honest.

They weren't many options at safety in FA. Mooore and Bruton didn't look like starting material last season and dawkins probably won't be back. They needed a guy they could trust to play decent without needing to draft one high and hope he pans out. I think this signing takes barron and Smith off the draft board.

I think this was a pretty good move with a big need at the position.

It didn’t take free agent safety Mike Adams very long to decide Denver was the place for him.

“It is a great fit for me,” he said Thursday. “The atmosphere is good and it felt right. I didn’t have to take any more (visits), it just felt right.”

I don't think so. Well atleast according to there fans on there message boards they didn't want to see Adams go. They seem to like him for being a great team player and his versatility. I just watched quickly his first half against the Steelers in 2011 and he doesn't look slow.

I think people are judging for whatever reason that he is a bad player. I am willing to bet a lot of money everyone who is saying that has not watched him play a lick. They may have watched the Brpwns but I doubt you have focused in and really watched Adams. I have not seen him play either but I am open minded to see what he do. And not going to rip him before we even see him play.

From reading around he looks to be a very sure tackler. However not great against the run. However in the open field he looks to be a sure tackler.

A few things about him on Pro Football Focus.

* Of all NFL safeties Adams allowed the 5th least yards per snap he was in coverage.

* He allowed the 5th best QB rating in coverage of all NFL safeties with 51.2. Only 4 were better.

If he comes cheap which it looks like he may and did then I think it is a very good signing. A solid player that can compete and work hard and more than likely start at free safety.

I think this shows we are more than likely moving forward with Quinton Carter as the in the box safety for us. Full time strong safety.

You can get a HELL NO. Bush piled up a few tackles, but he had the opportunity to end the Steelers game in regulation by breaking up that touchdown catch, Cotchery caught it RIGHT in front of Bush, and Bush wrapped up and didn't even take him down. That's when you MUST execute a KILLSHOT..

Mike Adams is a "meh" addition, no doubt. Just an average player that does not have upside (he will soon be 31 years old). But it's probably better than having guys like Rafael Bush and Kyle McCarthy on the field. And he can move from S to CB if necessary.

I have watched him over the years since Im from CLE and I can tell you this. He always seems to be in position to make plays when the ball is in the air. He gets picks when he plays. He statrted at nickle corner AND at Safety when TJ Ward went down.

He is the best hype man in the league ill tell you that. During games hes always dancing in the endzones inbetween possessions and interacting with fans to get them pumped up lol. If you go to games make sure you keep an eye on him cause its funny.

He does have the tendancy to dissapear in the game which i donno is a good thing or not. Sort of like Renaldo Hill or a Abram Elam. You could play a whole game and not hear his name once, but that could just mean he is doing his job. I like it, hes like an Eddie Royal type player who is not the best by any means, but fans love him cause he makes the occasional play and has a lovable personality.

Hes not the future type starting guy but I think he holds it down until guys like Rahim Moore and Carter develop. He can teach Rahim a lot consider they play the same style. They are both smaller safetys who are tweeners inbetween CB and S and rely on speed and ball hawking instead of buing a thumper. Thats why I dont think Dawk can help Rahim because they dont play the same style. Mike Adams does and hes a vet that knows where to be and when, so hopefully Dawk can take Carter under his wing and Mike can take Rahim under his wing and groom them for next year.

Great post and great point about him being able to help Moore instead of Dawkins because of the difference in style of play.

Yea I can honestly say after watching him for a few years that he is a solid addition and the fact that he can play both corner and safety is a good thing. He wont wow you, but he does his job with limited mistakes. Think of Renaldo Hill with better playmaking ability with INTs and stuff like that. Thats the most accurate I caqn describe him as.

BTW, will he be starting? or what

Hoserman117

Why are we hating on Adams? He's a good cover safety, who started on a defense that was 2nd in passing yards allowed and 5th in points allowed that had to carry one of the leagues worst offenses.

He's a good player, not dominant by any means, but a huge improvement over some of the crap we've had to deal with. He'll be in the right position, he'll cover his man, he'll make some picks, and be a good presence in the locker room. It's a smart very cheap signing, nothing wrong with that IMO.

If you don't notice the FS, they're doing their job. I think guys like Nick Ferguson, Renaldo Hill, and now Mike Adams are seriously undervalued by fans because they want the INTs/FFs etc. etc. Being a strict FS is not a glamourous job at all, but when it goes wrong, think Calvin Lowry.
