6 TD's last year. I look at these guys like Caldwell and Dreesen and see their best years - maybe 400-500 yards and I am confident that playing with Manning they will bump up into 700-800 yard territory, if not better. Manning's done the same thing for a dozen and a half guys through the years.

good signing i agree i still think we need another one tamme or clark...that would give us 3 receiving TE's including thomas who i think will be good n learn alot from these guys hes pretty raw...

This guy is way undervalued. He never got much love because of Foster and Johnson in the Texans offense.

He is a stud TE and I personally think he is better than Owen Daniels. He will be a surefire top 10 TE in our offense.

SBboundBRONCOS

narrowing down our needs slowly player by player

we could still use tamme but TE is decent now minus the suspension at least we have depth

porter gives us another proven CB

saturday (if we get him) will help the entire OL as will manning

hopefully we are working on something for the DL now and then pick up our spare players in the draft

Don't get me wrong, I think Tamme would pair nicely with Dreesen, but it would cost unnecessary $ while containing Thomas to the bench, which I'm not a big fan of. He wouldn't stand much of a chance at proving himself.

I would like to give JT a shot with a QB who knows how to utilize a TE. Manning never had a TE the size of Thomas, if they can build a rapport and JT can polish his game, that could be a very dangerous combo. While I think Clark or Tamme could help a lot with the WR/TE corps learning Manning's style of play, I don't think signing them is top priority anymore.

That's true but we're in a "win now" mode and they're not taking any chances. If we fail, it wont be because we didn't try and get the best TEs available.

That's pretty much the mindset of our FO right now, aggressive and not how we usually do business but I actually like it, especially with Elway behind the wheel.

lol, unrealistic expectations. Not all of our receivers/tight end aare going to get 600-1000 yards and 10 touchdowns because of Manning. Peyton will have a couple go-to guys just like in Indy and they will get the bulk of the passes. These other guys are merely role players. I just think everyone needs to tone down their expectations some. It's going to take Peyton some time to get re-acclimated to the game as well.

if he is the starting TE why not? take a look at clark and tammes production with manning. manning will target dreesen without a doubt.

plus manning will probably complete in the high 300's low 400's in passes and around 4k yards. thats alot of love to go around.

also mannings last year with the colts 4 guys had 600+ yards recieving collie was 2 cathces shy of making it 4 with 60 plus catches.

4000 yards aren't coming from the defensive backs. Dreesen has been 500+ yards already.

per rotoworld:

"Houston's free-agent exodus continues unabated. A fine all-around tight end, Dreessen has received high marks from Pro Football Focus for receiving and blocking the past couple of years. He's also proven capable of high-end TE2 fantasy numbers while filling in for Owen Daniels. His 2012 value depends on whether the Broncos add Dallas Clark or Jacob Tamme to the mix. Garrett Graham ascends to the No. 2 role in Houston unless a fullback is signed to free up James Casey. Second-year TE Julius Thomas may need to stay in the incubator for another year in Denver."

It's not unusual for a Manning-led team to have 3 600+ yard receivers.

Going back 5 seasons in which he played:

In 2006, he only had 2, but those two each had over 1300 yards.
In 2007, he only had 2, but Gonzalez had 576 (and Wayne had 1510).
In 2008, he had 4.
In 2009, he had 4.
In 2010, he had 4.

Let's not forget that he's one of only five QBs in history to have three 1,000 yard receivers in one season (2004). It's safe to say that he spreads the ball around, even if he has a favorite or two.

Great move, good receiver and blocker. A big upgrade from Fells IMO. I'd still look at Clark and Tamme too. Clark in particular doesn't seem to be generated much interest so far. He may have to sign for very little and if that's the case may want to join up with Manning.

Man this team is going to be loaded if they keep this up. Solid TE pick up, all we need now is some DT's and we should be all set. The way this is shaping up most of our draft may be gravy at this point. After we fill the defense of line holes with early picks, we may be able to go BPA in most the draft. Man this might actually be one of the best off–seasons in Broncos history if not the best.

Exactly! Manning is going to terrorize people with this guy down the seam and in the red zone. if they double DT or Decker and leave a linebacker or safety on this dude it is over. Not to mention he's a damn good blocker. I don't know about you guys but I'm loving this off-season.:goz:

I don't really agree with that, it's like saying DT only got open on deep routes last year. Guys don't get open because of play calls. They get open by using their ability to be coverages like splitting the seam or sitting down in the zones and waiting for the ball. This guy has way more speed than Clark did and great hands. Not to mention he's a much better blocker than Clark as well. This dude is going to be a solid TE with Manning throwing to him.

Heard Dreeson interviewed.

He is a good old boy..
his wifes family is all here..
he is a hunter..
his dad runs his 800 acre hunting ranch in north Texas..
was on his way to a workout..
plans to get together with the offensive guys as soon as possible
to start playing catch with Peyton before camp opens..
and said he is THRILLED to be coming to beautiful Colorado again.

Called Houston the Portal to Hell. (Weather wise) :P
