Yeah....Root made some dumb decisions....

Sucks Alanna left....now we are stuck with this other girl.....who was terrible during spring training...

Helmer was awesome.

Helmer was awesome.

I hated Helmer at 1st, but he grew on me. Stout just makes me want to punch a hole in the wall. I don't mind Klatt though.

I'm not a Klatt fan...not a Stout fan....not a Jeff Huson fan....so far not a fan of the girl....

So pretty much all I like now is Ringolsby. Then obviously Goodman and Frazier.

IMO Huson has gotten better. Frazier talks too much sometimes. I miss it when there was guys like Ringolsby, Sam Adams and Tim Ring on there, back in like 06-07

Meh a little, I'm just not looking forward to him taking over from Frazier when Frazier finally calls it quits. He just bugs me, I don't know why.

And unless we really suck, I never pick against the Rockies haha, so I predict a win ;)

Didn't drive any runs in....but a double for my boy CarGo and a walk for Tulo.

Helton and Scutaro tagged the ball pretty well too.

Wish I could say the same for Guthries start in the bottom half.

Only 1-0....but damn...

The Experience

Well I think as long as this team doesn't K much I think we will be a much better offensive team this year.

If you keep making contact you will eventually get hits.

The Experience

The pitch that Lee hit was a good pitch, can't fault Guthrie for that.

But the only reason it's 1-0 is because he walked Altuve.

Our problem was the overuse of our bullpen.

If he goes 7-8 innings and gives up 4.....I'll take it.

Our offense should be able to score 4+ especially at home.

Feel free to disagree, but he's our main guy, and for a reason. The amount of innings he will eat is huge for us, hence the reason we got him.

Then why start Hernandez at all except for Rosario's needed days off? Riddle me that. We all know Rosario can hit bombs. Hernandez is mentoring him in the defensive aspect which is where Rosarios skill set lacks as of now. So to do it in the 8th of a tie ball game. Yea it's not a bright move. Wow. Brother is filthy. Love the kid.

I love Rosario, his defense is the question, great inning there. Let's hope he calls a great 9th.

He takes the starting job after all-star break is my guess.

I think you guys are over analyzing. Did Hernandez call for Guthrie to throw beach balls in the 4th. No.

Haha good point. This one move won't win or lose us this game.

Broncoholic3233

Pretty solid inning by Brothers and Rosario. 1 more inning to go.

We aren't over analyzing. That's the reason Rosario isn't starting.

He was hitting close to .500 in spring. His defense (calling games) is what is holding him back from being a starter right now.

It's been all over the post and what not. Once he fixes that and starts calling good games, he'll be the starter, no doubt.

Don't sleep on Ramon though, he is a very good player. If we struggle I can easily see Hernandez and Betancourt traded in favor of Rosario and Brothers.

I still think Brothers will take closer role at some point regardless.

That's all good but my point is you don't get paid big bucks to make offensive calls worried about if your backup catcher can hack it. Otherwise he shouldn't be on the roster if Tracey didn't believe he could. So I still say move paid off regardless.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love that we got the run.

I'm just saying it was ballsy, to switch from a vet to a young catcher in the 8th and 9th.

No doubt, but Mills is part of the problem not the solution....

We saw it tonight, he left the reliever Rodriguez in way too long. Then left the shaky lefty to face Tulo. Got burned both times.

Rockies 5 Astros 3

What a great first outing from Jeremy Guthrie. Worked deep into the game, was a little more wild than usual, and still pitched a great first game. Glad he's a Rockie!

Starting Pitching:

Jeremy Guthrie: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 SO, 2 HR; (W, 1-0)

3 Batting Stars:

Troy Tulowitzki: 1-3, 1 H, 1 HR (1), 2 RBI (2), 1 BB

Michael Cuddyer: 2-4, 2 H, 1 RBI (1)

Todd Helton: 1-4, 1 H, 1 2B (1), 1 RBI (1), 1 BB

Bullpen Stars:

Rex Brothers: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR

Rafael Betancourt: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR; SV (1)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great way to start the year scoring 5 runs and getting a deep start from Guthrie!

Bats were alive and well for the most part: Double for CarGo, double Helton, HR for Tulo, RBI's for Tulo, Helton and Cuddy.

Rex Brothers was absolutely filthy getting himself a hold.

Rafael Betancourt made quick work of the first two guys, then got into a little trouble but pulled it out getting his first save of the year.

Rockies move to 1-0 on the season. Next game is tomorrow @ Houston at 5:10 MST.

Tracy mistakes SO FAR today:

- Takes out Nicasio after 82 when he's pitching great.

- Puts an OF at 1st base when we need defense there. '

- Doesn't address 3rd base for defense

- Now, he'll probably pitch hit a reliever.

Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the opposing pitchers. Harrell was phenomenal yesterday and Norris was pretty damn good himself today.

If we are still looking like this 10-15 games in....I'll begin to get worried....but right now....we've faced two kids who've had strong outings.
