The Lord has blessed me to play in the NFL for 16 years. I would like to thank the Eagles & the Broncos 4 believing In me. I would like 2 thank all my teammates & Coaches that I have been blessed 2 go to battle with. Along with u, the fans 4 helping make my career 1 that i have enjoyed tremendously. In other words. I am announcing my retirement from the NFL. #BBTB

Sad to see him go, but I think he made the right call. Focusing on his health and family should be his number one priority at this stage in his life/career. We in Bronco land were lucky to watch such an amazing player and person wear the Orange and Blue so proudly these last few years.

I'm going to miss you Dawkins, you gave everything you had to this franchise during your time here. I wish #20 nothing but the best in all of his future endeavors. He's going to have a helluva Hall of Fame speech. :salute:

As much as I wanted him to stick around and further mentor our young guys in the proper way to approach football and life, I understand his decision. He's been a great member of the Broncos, I wish him all the best in his post-football endeavors.

I kinda want to see him be an analyst on one of the networks. It would be awesome to see him run across the studio and lay out someone who says something stupid. "Sorry, haven't quite been able to leave it on the field yet. How's your clavicle?"

A good Man, A GREAT football player. They are not mutually exclusive.

Brian's influence over his younger team mates will be felt long after they stop playing football.

I hope he finds a role somewhere (Denver?) where he can continue to show these young men how to be a good man.

I was hoping he'd stay at least another year.

One thing that impressed me was when he came here, lots of his Eagle fans came over and said what a great man/player he was and to take good care of him. It was a reflection on the kind of person Dawkins is.

Thank you BDawk! I was thrilled when you came to the Broncos as you were probably my favorite player in the league outside of Denver before you signed on.

Always gave us 100% and made the players around you better - a true leader and teammate. It is a crying shame that you leave this game without a Super Bowl ring, but it does not tarnish your HOF career.

Team took a loss on the field and a bigger loss in the locker room and leadership. Time for someone else to step up and be that guy.

japfaff
04-23-2012, 01:39 PM
I just dont think that this is a loss to us cept for his leadership. Which is bigh cause none of the vets that we have on D are leaders. But I think a lot of fans overvalue him cause for the last 12 years our Safety play has been SOOO bad.

theshiverman
04-23-2012, 02:06 PM
If its one thing i can say about this guy and its that i never saw him quit in a game, and thats saying a lot because his first two years here this team was full of quitters, there were only a handfull of players on this team during those years that had too much pride to roll over and this guy was at the top of the list, Thanks for everything Dawkins, now go get fitted for that HOF jacket.
