Would be a very good time to figure out our lefty problems, all three are of the southpaw variety.

Good win. We needed that one over a tough division foe.

Rockies 6 Dodgers 2

Juan Nicasio had a very solid game. He was pitching a lot better than his stats will show, but he was limited because of his pitch count. Lots of foul balls. But still, he only gave up 2 runs and got his 2nd win of the year.

Starting Pitching:

Juan Nicasio: 6.0 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR; W (2-0)

3 Batting Stars:

Carlos Gonzalez: (2-3) 2 R, 2 H, 2 RBI (18), 1 BB

Troy Tulowitzki: (1-4) R, H, 2B (4), 2 RBI (13)

Ramon Hernandez: (1-3) H, 2B (4), 2 RBI (14)

Bullpen Stars:

Esmil Rogers: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR; H (2)

Rex Brothers: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR; H (3)

Edgmer Escalona: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO, 0 HR; H (1)

Rafael Betancourt: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our bullpen is a huge reason we won this game. Tracy made a very questionable decision bringing 108 pitch Nicasio back into the game in the 7th. He gave up two singles, and was yanked. Then Rogers game in and walked the guy. They had the bases loaded, no outs, with Kemp and Eithier up. Rogers struck out Kemp, Brothers struck out Eithier and Escalona made Rivera pop out. That saved us the game.

CarGo is very hot right now. He's batting .400+ over the past week and has 13 RBI's in his last 26 ABs or something like that.

Rockies finish April with a .500 record. Not too bad.

Rockies move to 11-11 on the season. Next game is tomorrow at Coors Field against the Dogers at 6:40pm.

GO ROCKIES!!!

Chacin really needs to get the W tonight.

Wednesdays match-up isn't very favorable at all.

Hopefully they can pull out this series... Need to win against the top of our division to have any chance at all...

Agreed. Pom versus Kershaw isnt fair.

Oh Renck made a subtle bash on the recent contact plays.

Another terrible start for Chacin. What is wrong with him this year?

Its all confidence. He is struggling with his mechanics and control. Doesnt shock me with dummy coaching him up.

That said a stint in AAA would probably benefit him.

Well we gave ourselves a chance to cut it, but Tulo ran us out of the inning with a DP

Renck thinks he needs a trip down to AAA. I agree. With White rocking and Friedrich not far behind, Chacin could use a low pressure situation to get his head on right.

Now that I live near denver I pay more attention to the rockies and i have come to realize...their pitching pretty much stinks.

I knew they had to be suspect when Moyer is there 5th starter but he seems to be pitching pretty well.

Even when the Rockies put up 11 runs on my Mets on Friday I never really felt out of it until the 9th inning when I knew 9 runs was darn near impossible.

So I have to ask, why dont they have a roster full of ground ball pitchers? Anyone that gives up fly balls is going to eventually pay pitching at coors field. should be nothing but a bunch sinker / slider ptichers on the roster.

Anyhow - I hope they start playing better and good luck the rest of the way.

You're asking a question that Rockies fans have been asking for about...oh...15-20 years.

He is actually the second starter and statwise he has by far the lowest ERA. But yes it's still very suspect and tells you the level of our pitching.

He's not technically the 2nd starter. He is the 5th starter, last one to make the roster.

He was placed 2nd so he would be throwing between our 2 hardest throwing pitchers in Guthrie and Nicasio, so in between teams would hopefully not be able to adjust from a 95, to 78 mph fastball over night, then back to a 96-97.

But with how Chacin has been pitching, he'll be gone to AAA soon. Moscoso needs to be send down too. White and Friedrich need to be up....until Guthrie returns from DL and Chacin gets his crap right.

We had a bunch of groundball pitchers a few years ago, not coincidentally it was one of our best pitching staffs.

What no lineup today? Have people just been to busy to post in the Rockies threads lately or is everyone down that the team is still at .500 a month into the season?

Anyways go Rockies. Tough matchup today with Kershaw but at least Pom has started well.

Rockies 8 Dodgers 5

Pomeranz had a really solid outing today. He gets himself in a little trouble with his pitch count, but still he pitched a really good game.

Starting Pitching:

Drew Pomeranz: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO, 0 HR; ND (0-1)

3 Batting Stars:

Carlos Gonzalez: (2-4) 2 H, 2 R, 2 HR (7), 3 RBI (23)

Jason Giambi: (1-1) R, H, HR (1), 3 RBI (5)

Dexter Fowler: (1-4) R, H, RBI (11)

Bullpen Stars:

Esmil Rogers: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our bullpen tried to lose us this game multiple times, but luckily we prevailed. Rogers was the only good one out of the pen.

Carlos Gonalez continues to just rip opposing pitchers with 2 more HR's today and 3 more RBI's. Giambi hits a pinch hit walk off 3 run bomb, and Rosario connects on a solo HR as well.

Rockies win the series, 2-1 against the Dodgers.

Rockies move to 12-12 on the season. Next game is Friday at Coors Field against the Atlanta Braves at 6:40pm.

GO ROCKIES!!!
