If this is true, that is more than fine by me. That's sick.....

Didn't mean to make that sound like I was disappointed. Just stating I expect that to be the case.

It would probably happen regardless. But this won't help him....

This makes me think of the movie Donnie Darko and Patrick Swayze's character. Whether the guy is guilty or not, it amazes me how people fortunate enough to make the money that they do always seem to throw their life away. Money=Evil

Nuggets on Bird: Chris has been excused from all team-related activities indefinitely as he deals with the reported investigation.

Ever since he got his contract extension he's been lazy and useless. I was saying last offseason that the nuggets should cut him, now they absolutely need to cut him.

They don't need to. His contract will be voided if these are charges are true.

Are you speculating or do you know this?

The Nuggets would have been dumb to not put a clause in his deal after the whole cocaine thing. But that was Warkentein not Masai so who knows...

Disgusting if true, but I'll wait until he's found guilty to pass judgement.

I saw a tweet that he has someone living with him. Really hope this is his mess and not Birdman's. This is disgusting either way.

Nuggets center Chris "Birdman" Andersen may be extortion target

A lawyer for Nuggets center Chris Andersen today provided a statement to The Denver Post that gives a glimpse into the complicated case involving the player's home being searched by sheriff's deputies investigating Internet crimes against children.

Douglas County investigators on Thursday went to Andersen's home in Larkspur, seized property that includes electronic devices being forensically examined by a lab. Andersen, 33, has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

The sheriff's office this afternoon has clarified that "no individual(s) are being identified as the focus of this investigation," according to a statement from spokesman Sgt. Ron Hanavan.

In the statement, Colin Bresee, an attorney for Andersen, suggested that a woman from California tried to get items of value from Andersen. The statement reads:

"A female fan in 2010 mailed Mr. Andersen multiple letters and included several photos in which she was scantily clad. Chris and this woman communicated with each other and in 2011, this woman, who represented herself as 21 years of age, flew to Colorado, showing her required identification. After leaving Colorado, she became upset at his lack of interest. In 2012, she threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration. "

According to the statement, someone purporting to be the woman's mother wrote in an email that " 'i (sic) want him to pay for everything on her Amazon wish list, 5K for her bedding stuff and her victoria secret wish list."

"Professional athletes are routinely targeted by these types of individuals," the statement said. "The media has been speculating that he's a suspect and not a victim in a criminal investigation. Mr. Andersen has been fully cooperative with the authorities. The investigation is expected to take three weeks. We're confident it will show that Chris did not engage in any criminal conduct."

Thursday afternoon, the Nuggets said Andersen had been "excused indefinitely" from team activities while Douglas County sheriff's detectives investigate.

Andersen has been under investigation since February, when a California law enforcement agency tipped off Douglas County.

Well, guilty or not, he sure is screwed now. It's a shame the press can paint such a big picture before anyone is sure about anything.

Maybe a Denver Area prison.

So it sounds like there is a possibility a crazed woman/gold digger was angry that Chris wouldn't send her the money she was requesting and "tipped off" the police that the Bird had child pornography in his home. Don't know what to make of it.

If the investigation is supposed to take 3 weeks, how is it still going on if he's been under investigation since February? That's 3 months right there

It takes the lab three weeks to sift through all the stuff they seized.
