I'm glad they're coming back for safety reasons, but I'd also expect to see some phantom calls on the Raiders since we've always been their favorite.

Now these replacement refs can go back to where they belong - Asking for change. Ok, maybe that's a little harsh, but it's good they have left the building!

Love it!

Saw a tweet by a Raider fan contending that since the replacement refs tossed less flags at the Raiders than the real refs, it proved the NFL was out to get the Raiders. I pictured him trying to keep a straight face while he typed it (I sure couldnt keep a straight face reading it)

As much as I love Raider tin-hatters, thier wonderfully embarrassing managerial choices year after glorious year & thier bumbling around on the field while leeching 10s of millions of $$$ in salary...nothing compares to seeing a toughguy spiked-out, mohawked member of The Raider Nation in his bestiest halloween make-up cry in his beer after losing to us.

Good times! :D :smash:

P.S. Oh yeah...glad the refs are coming back, LOL

Nothing like a pass interference on a Hail Mary to generate chaos and get the real officials back, huh? Oh, wait! Do you remember Tebow's Hail Mary against the Chargers, when Matt Willis was clearly pushed in the endzone? And those were the real officials! And no one gave a damn. Don't expect a lot of improvement. We'll just have the regular guys to blame for the horrible calls that will continue to happen. People will quickly remember how the regular officials also screw up early and often. I even expect some jokes such as "bring the replacement refs back."

You have to wonder if the ref who blew the call planned this so he could go back to his old life where the American population doesn't despise him.

I figured they would be back in time for Brady/Manning. No way Kraft or Goodell would ever let what may be one of the last epic duels between those two get ref'd by replacements. Can u imagine if that game comes down to a phantom PI or some phantom TD?

***on a side note we should have had these ref's when we had KO and all those phantom sacks. Maybe we could've gotten a few phantom roughing the passer calls, lol!!!

I think we pulled some of those off lol. He would drop before the guy got there but the guy's momentum would cause him to brush Orton's helmet drawing the flag lol. So sad that that is able to draw a flag.

That is a FAKE Twitter account and message........

It has been reported they might be able to officiate THIS WEEKS games. Which would be nice.

http://kdvr.com/2012/09/26/reports-nfl-referee-lockout-could-end-this-week/

The NFL and the NFL Referees Association have come to an agreement regarding backup crews, according to a report. This would be a significant step toward bringing regular referees back on the field — maybe as early as this week.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting significant progress was made between the two sides during a late-night negotiation session Tuesday and another session early on Wednesday morning. Mortensen went on to report that an “agreement in principle” is in hand to end the referee lockout entirely.
Mortensen cited one source that said this could mean NFL referees return to officiate the upcoming week’s games. Another said it seems more likely that the referees will be back for the next week’s games.
As reports about this potential agreement have surfaced, several league owners have become more vocal.
“Your loud voices r heard about getting Refs back,” Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay Tweeted. “We’re desperately trying 2 get it done! We want a deal that improves officiating overall.”
That Tweet and the news on this potential agreement both came two days after a controversial touchdown call made by the NFL’s replacement officials. The call gave a win to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night despite a further review of the play, which appeared to show the pass had actually been intercepted by the Green Bay Packers.
That seemingly-correct call would have given the Packers the win.
The biggest compromise reportedly reached in the past two days’ negotiations between the NFL and its referees concerns backup officials.
According to a report on NFL.com, this potential agreement would mandate the creation of a developmental program — one that would add 21 backup officials to the current pool of 121 NFLRA members. The NFL was insistent that more qualified refs be available should circumstances arise outside of football that would make any number of the current 121 members unavailable.
The sides haven’t yet resolved the issue of referee retirement plans, but a source told NFL.com that the officials gave some ground Tuesday.
An early sticking point for referees during the negotiations had been retirement benefits. Considering referees are only part-time employees, the NFL has argued it was unreasonable for them to expect such perks.

Hmm...anyone taking bets on when we see the first "these refs are as bad as the replacement refs" thread?

I'd say after the first game...when a fan isn't happy with a call. Rather it was a good call or bad call.

Everyone figured this would happen after the Packers game. You don't want something like that happening to titletown, plus the mishap with the Pats/Ravens. Best believe Robert Kraft was the first person to pick up the phone and call the NFLRA.

The owners saw what happened Sunday and Monday night, just couldn't take more horrid officiating.

Now lets not say or act like the regular refs are perfect, they are not. But in comparison between the replacements and the regulars...
The originals are like Brett Favre vs the Packers, and the replacements are like Jamarcus Russell lead Raiders vs today's Baltimore Ravens.

A PFT reader makes a great point -- There's no way the NFL could have sent a crew of replacements to Lambeau Field this weekend.

That is a good point. Imagine how UGLY that would have been (or could still be if the reports aren't accurate, I suppose)
