Surprised there wasn't a thread yet. Great game so far in Atlanta.

Kaepernick has amazing composure for really a first year player. He really hasn't been running at all. Still sticking with my NE/ATL pick.

theMileHighGuy
01-20-2013, 03:14 PM
David Akers, what went wrong? Goal-post again. Now he's sitting all by himself on the sideline.

ATL driving again. SF defense is on it's heels for sure.

49ers finally take the lead after Matt Ryan gives the ball up twice and fails to take advantage of a clutch turnover.

This is a great game.

theMileHighGuy

Jim Harbaugh just LOST it.

I didn't think it was a catch either.

Thors Hammer
01-20-2013, 04:09 PM
Is there a new NFL rule that states thet you can't make obvious pass interference calls against a team coached by a Harbaugh?

The refereeing in the playoffs has sucked this year.

InsaneBlaze23
01-20-2013, 04:10 PM
Eh, the refs are making the NFL a joke. Bad calls already but they hurt Atlanta more.

Never the less, my pick to win the Super Bowl is the Patriots. Ravens barely beat the Broncos with ref help and John Fox ill play style. New England doesn't play to lose and if any team has refs in their pockets, it's the Pats.

BroncoFanNC

Watching Pats Ravens makes me sick. Wrong team being hosted by the wrong team.

Hope coach FOX is feeling sicker at least. If anyone is happy we did better than expected, needed to raise those expectations. # 1 seed should have been Superbowl only. Have to hope the NFC wins it all. cuz see Ray Lewis or Brady win it is just gut wrenching.

As far as I know, Manning was one of the few players that showed up to play against the Ravens. Looking back to that game, the Broncos had Manning throwing 3 TD passes and Trindon Holliday scoring twice as a returner. What else? The running game didn't help much. The defense could not stop the run, could not cover down the field and could not put pressure on Flacco. Where was Miller, Dumervil, Bailey? Even the kicker and the head coach screwed up. I doubt that Broncos team that disappeared against the Ravens would be winning today. They didn't deserve to win and be in this position.

Hillman played well. Manning had 3 TOs

At least Manning compensated with 3 TDs. The pick six was a good throw but Decker could not catch the ball because the CB was jamming his arm. The officials gave the Ravens those 7 points. That game should not gone to overtime but the defense was a complete joke. The secondary got beat deep again and again, forcing zero turnovers and there was no pressure on Flacco. Hillman averaged 3.8 YPC and played safe, focused on protecting the ball. There was no big run and no offensive control through the ground to take the pressure away from Manning.

It's the Ravens just beating the tar out of them. They hit hard on every play, and make them pay for that underneath stuff. They Pats are a great team but if you beat them up and get pressure with 4 you can beat them.

Manning had a bad game, even though he had 3 TD throws and almost 300 yards passing. What about Brady? He played against the same defense, in better conditions? Oh, and now Tom is 3-5 his last 8 playoff games. Lost to NYG in SB, then lost to BAL & NYJ in 1st round, then beat DEN & BAL, then lost to NYG, then beat HOU, then lost to BAL again.

Brady getting owned at home makes Manning's loss to BAL a little easier to swallow.

Like many of you, I was having a hard time getting over last Saturday's loss. I feel like it was a tremendous opportunity wasted. However, since the Ravens just beat the Patriots, I now feel like we just were defeated by the hot team who reached the Super Bowl, and I no longer feel like the Broncos simply "laid an egg" against a far inferior team. Bigger choke than the Broncos. I feel vindicated and the sting goes away. Now I can't wait to listen to all the rationalization up here in Bradyland on the sports media.

YEs indeed.

Brady had a lousier game than Manning did. Maybe the "Manning chokes" crowd wil back off. The golden boy Brady had problems today as well. At least Peyton got his team the lead late. Can't say the same about Brady.

Then again, maybe football is a team sport? D'ya think?

Postseason stats

20 games - Manning: 481/761 - 5679 yards - 7.46 yds/att - 32 TD - 21 Int - 88.4 Rating
24 games - Brady: 553/887 - 5949 yards - 6.71 yds/att - 42 TD - 22 Int - 87.4 Ratiing

Glaring difference? Brady 17-7 (3 Rings), Manning 9-11 (1 Ring)

You should have heard the sports media up here in Bradyland talking about Manning and how he pissed down his leg last week (those were their actual words), how he choked AGAIN, and how he will never be a good quarterback like their precious Brady.

Well, who just had the bigger choke job. Your precious Brady. Manning 3 TD's, over 300 yards, in horrible conditions. Brady 1 TD, 185 yards. He was the one who peed his pants. Now hear me out. They paid big money to retain Brady. It just so happens it was similar money to what Denver paid to get Manning. Hardly. I have always maintained that the refs didn't cost Denver the game, Denver cost Denver the game. We beat ourselves. But the refs didn't help Denver at all, from an incomplete pass ruled as complete when that would have stalled your drive much closer to your endzone then midfield, a tacky PI call on Bailey among other things. You guys won, congratulations, but just like I saw you guys post that you let the Pats off the hook last year in the AFC Championship game, we let you off the hook as well this year.

How can you say we laid and egg when we scored 35 and went to double OT? If anything the Pats and Brady laid an egg. Best O in the league and you get should out in the second half and only score 13. We laid an egg, but you have to admit that Lewis has the Ravens playing in an out of body kind of inspired way. They believed they were a team of destiny and now they've proven it.

I do take a small amount of comfort (like taking an aspirin for a migraine) that Manning played better against the ratbird defense than Brady did. That's quite obvious, and maybe the talking schmucks at ESPN and elsewhere will quit railing on Peyton over a game that he "had won" before the most appalling defensive breakdown I've ever witnessed.

I'm still very salty over last Saturday's loss, and after seeing the way Baltimore manhandled New England it just got worse. We should have had New England at home today, and after seeing the way they played today there's no doubt we'd be heading to New Orleans.

I'm still baffled as to how we lost that game, there were so many different ways that game could have and should have went. This was our year, it was all set up perfectly for us. Homefield, playing a Ravens team we clobbered just a few weeks before, and then getting New England at home, Super Bowl in Peyton's home town, god I'm disgusted.

Now, next year if we can get there, it will be the only cold weather Super Bowl in history, and we all know Peyton cant handle the cold.

This sucks, sorry just venting a little, a week later it still stings just as bad as it did Saturday night!

I had a great day. I hate Brady, NE, and their fans so much, this was a much needed pick up from last week.

Watching Brady on his butt like this after the 4th down conversion fail, great:

Watching Brady pout, getting owned after pulling a Suh in the first half, great:

Watching Stevan Ridley get KTFO by Pollard the Patriot killer, great...

Seeing the Patsfans.com forums shut down because the mods are probably crying in a corner... lol-worthy.

The whole day was just... great.

I'm still in stage 3 - sadness. And then I know I will remain in stage 4 - anger - for a very long time. Maybe I'm in a stage of angry sadness. I don't feel any better. I'm still thinking about the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

I hate the pats so much that seeing them get BLOWN out at home really did take some of the sting of our lose away.I have to deal with the 49er fans in the bay area, maybe i should be rooting for the Ravens to win.I can here it now,"Manning should have chose the 9ers",he would have another ring.Go Ravens!

Bill Belichick snubbed CBS after Patriots loss, then got ripped by Shannon Sharpe

Bill Belichick may not be a poor sport, but he plays one on TV.

The New England Patriots coach continued his long history of petulant behavior when he declined an interview with CBS following his team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship.

During the network's postgame show, host James Brown told viewers that sideline reporter Steve Tasker had requested an interview with Belichick, but that the coach declined. The Patriots sent out third-year safety Devin McCourty instead, which is like asking for an interview with the president and getting Joe Biden's secretary.

When CBS cut back to its studio set after the brief chat with McCourty, analyst Shannon Sharpe was seething.

"There's something to be said about being gracious in defeat. We've seen the New England Patriots five times in the last 12 years be victorious. And we've seen the opposing coaches that lost come out and speak to our Steve Tasker. Coach [Bill] Cowher [who was sitting next to Sharpe] did it when they lost. We saw this last week. Bill Belichick makes it very easy for you to root against the Patriots. You can't be a poor sport all the time. You're not going to win every time. And he does this every time he loses. It is unacceptable."

Sharpe is spot-on. Belichick always comes off as arrogant, aloof and unlikable. He's the stereotypical haughty genius who has no use for the opinions of the masses.

And you know how much Belichick probably cares what you, me or Shannan Sharpe thinks? Zippy. He couldn't care less. Shoot, he'd have been happy to decline comment after a win.

READ: Ravens advance to Super Bowl

That's why it's hard to be too angry with this move. If he was the sort of coach who'd rub it in your face after he won (think Pete Carroll), his silence after losses would be hypocritical. But he doesn't do that. He's comes off like a guarded misanthrope after wins or losses. It's simply Bill being Bill, to borrow a Boston phrase. That's the way he rolls.

Postgame interviews are worthless anyway. You know what McCourty's opening line was? "They outplayed us." Insightful stuff.

That's not to say Belichick is right to blow off CBS. The network paid $622 million to air AFC games this season. The contract jumps to $1 billion starting in 2014. When the paid broadcast partner asks for an interview, it should get an interview. Tasker wanted a few perfunctory words, not Belichick's first-born child. The whole thing lasted 45 seconds. He couldn't spare 45 seconds?

WATCH: Jim Harbaugh loses his mind over call

McCourty is one of three defensive captains for New England, so it's not as if he's a completely random team member. (Though you know Belichick would have sent the assistant equipment manager if he could.) Still, a third-year player serving as a representative of a team is a joke.

So is Bill Belichick a bad loser? His handshake with John Harbaugh was almost magnanimous. That's a better barometer than whether or not he wants to stand outside the locker room and answer the same questions he'll hear a few minutes later in the media room, right?

No coach who's experienced as much success as Belichick is a good loser. Their determination and competitiveness is what fuels their greatness. But what of all those coaches who seem like good losers after big defeats? They're just better at faking it.

Hey the Broncos don't give a HOOT what we think. If John Fox loses a divisional round playoff game he still gets paid. The rest of you suck
