Get an extra first round pick (high in the draft) and then get RGIII...

Rams made a mistake there (ofcourse easy to say now in hindsight) and would've been a risky move then....nonetheless ...that without a doubt would've been the better move

I understand RGIII probably wouldn't have had nearly the success in STL that he's had in WSH...But he's still imo, hands down a future top 2-3 QB in this QB driven league if not already

Can't say that about Bradford

Can't say that about BradfordI think the jury is still out on this because RGIII still has to come back from his second ACL injury. Had one in college and now in the pro's. The Rams are not in that bad of shape with two #1's this year and a whole lot of young talent on that team esp. on defense.

Yeah, they did get the farm (didn't they get 3 #1's?) for that pick that's the one aspect that could still flip it and Bradford does have talent and RGIII is like you said, coming off his 2nd ACL (cuz he played when he shouldn't have)

Ifff they hit on those two #1's, it could flip it...so good post, definitely a valid point

Any team wanting to mortgage their future for a single player is asking for disaster. Just look at Ditka with the 'Aints. He gave up EVERYTHING for Ricky Williams and look what happened there. Football is a team sport and as such is about more than a single individual. This sport is not about the individual - it is about the group.

Many of you fans forget that. RGIII went to an organization with top notch coaches that have had enormous success in the NFL. Mike Shanahan ring a bell, Denver fans? Mike Shanahan knows how to make a quarterback look good. Look at what he did with Griese, Plummer, Cutler, and now RGIII.

The Rams have the opportunity to draft some very essential pieces to their team and create something great with their new draft picks

Both teams really came out great in that trade if the Rams use the picks wisely and RG3 continues to excel under Shanahan

Rams got 2 first round draft picsk from the Skins, not 3....

As a Redskins fan, I'd say it was worth it. With our rookie QB, many people expected the Redskins to finish last in the NFL as RG3 would go through some growing pains as a rook.

Turns out, RG3 led Redskins offense was the 4th highest scoring offense in the NFL, and RG3 got the Redskins their first NFC East title since Bill CLinton was president in 1999.

Yes, the kid needs to slide more and take less direct contact, but if he comes back from the knee injury 100%, he'll be a top 5 QB in the NFL for the next 10 years. He led the NFL in completion percentage through week 13, and I believe his QB Rating was in the top 5 of all 32 starting QBs.

You guys will see first hand what the young kid from Baylor can do when he travels here to Denver next year. I'll definitely be there, probably wearing an RG3 jersey and a Broncos hat. what a d-bag, huh? LOL

I can almost gurantee you that shanny will be drafting lattimore for you guys as well. And probably a double dip at WR

Well bad decision is somewhat of a huge over statement. Lest go back to when he was drafted, he was (Brandford) highly regarded as one of the top prospect in the last few years.
He still has all what is needed as far as physical tools and football knowledge to be great.

Now what really happend here?
1-The guy had so many offensive scheme to learn in his first years it's no even an argument when talking about his stats and perfomances.
2-No true no 1 receiver that fitted the offensive scheme or gave a real contribution to the team (all of them)
3-A overpriced oline that could not block to save anyones life (the main reason why he wont stand in the pocket he knows he'll get hit because his line is one of the worst in the NFL)
4-An offense thats was so predictable in the play calling that we could call the plays before the snaps when watching on tv.

Not lets go back to the content of the article (mostly laughable BTW IMO). T
he choices were :
1-trade Brandford for a single 1st pick (presumably the browns/rumored)
or
trade their 1st pick for 3 first round picks and a second round pick (yes 3 first rounds (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7668243/washington-redskins-acquire-no-2-overall-pick-st-louis-rams))

First Jeff fisher is not a running qb type of offense and knows where to look for talent in a draft.
Did he tought RGIII had non? Probably not but keeping your qb who welds a lots of potential (former highly regarded 1st overall pick if we all remember) and add impressive the ammo to build a true team with premium pick in the draft (3x1st round + 1 2dn round) it's a no brainer really. With the trade you now acquire enough to get players to actually help Bradford excel and finally get off Jackson back (he was overused in the playcalling IMO).

I bet if he had to do it again he would do exactly the same thing today.

that is the problem with QB's that like to make plays with their legs, their shelf life will inevitably be shorter than a traditional gun slinger unless they adapt.

RGIII absolutely cannot keep taking shots and getting injured, you cant build a team around a guy that isn't always out there.

How many excuses is Sam Bradford going to get? I know he doesnt have a #1 WR, I know his OL is below average, and he has had little to no coaching to help him. But when is his actual talent going to show up on the field?! Elite QB's can elevate their teams to higher levels no matter what is going on around them. Andrew Luck had one good WR, no OL and a first year head coach that got cancer and had to leave for half the season. Yet Luck willed his team to the playoffs and has a very bright future ahead of himself.

I like Bradford but I think this year is his "prove it" year. He needs to be a Pro Bowl level type player by now. If he doesnt show up this year, the Rams should start looking into the draft next year for another QB. :2cents:
