Phillip Rivers and San Diego self destructing?

Could be .......

.... and how bout McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers have words on the sideline?

Tampa Bay just is horrible. They stopped the Pats 4 or 5 times and had the ball in the red zone 4 times and have 3 points.

Brady and company are starting to click. Game pretty much over cause Bucs can't score.

Horrible play calling by Bucs as well.

How about that Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson. Playing against a good secondary too.

BTW Brady's TD streak still intact. May break Brees' record.

They had two timeouts still and on the final play they were trying to reverse lateral it to players to get to the endzone.

I think Cinci will soon prove to be the second best team in the AFC behind us. It'll be interesting to see Baltimore/Cinci as Baltimore finally seems to be gelling and then the only other team in my mind that could challenge is New England, but I still want to see them face a good team. Buffalo, Jets, and Tampa Bay don't qualify as good at all.

These personal foul calls are killing me. The first play of the 49ers-Colts game, Whitner gets a helmet-to-helmet call even though he clearly led with his shoulder. Just like in the Broncos-Giants game, the "impact" of the hit swayed the refs to throw a bogus flag. Part of playing defense is being able to separate the receiver from the ball - folks like Dawkins, Lynch, Atwater, Sean Taylor, etc. made a living doing that.

Don't get me wrong, I think helmet-to-helmet is important to enforce since concussions are serious. However, it's on the refs to be diligent and make the right call.

These running quarterbacks are starting to not fare as well..

Vick, Kaepernick, RGIII, losing their competitive edge. Looks like the defenses are figuring it out already and this pistol/read option offense might not last as long as we think.

If I were a 49ers fan I'd be pissed. Both the WR and DB are fighting for the ball and all of these ticky-tack PI calls are killing them. Personally, unless it's blatant PI you have to let the players play. Now it seems like instead of the WRs working to catch the ball, they're just working on their acting skills and trying to sway the refs.

It's like, as soon as they feel contact the WRs throw up their hands and get the flag. Who even needs to have a passing game anymore? Just run into the defenders and throw up your hands!

Yeah there's been some bad calls, but no matter what 7 points isn't going to win games. I don't know if the injuries or what, but it reminds me of when Alex Smith was there, and the 49ers simply didn't have enough offense to get it done.

Tell me my Colts don't look good? Bradshaw and Richardson in the backfield, Luck behind center and we just beat the 49ers in Candlestick.

A good year to be down with the horse.

What's going on with Kaepernick? Playing like crap.

It's not Kaepernick (well, it might be a little). It's mostly the guys around him. For one, his o-line can't seem to block at all (maybe they're still reeling from last week?). Secondly, his receivers can't get open and even when they do get some space, they drop the passes. He's really missing not having Vernon Davis and Crabtree. Lastly, his KR guys are TERRIBLE and keep fumbling the ball inside the 5-yard line, which give him terrible field position to boot.

Something else that I'm noticing is that all of the coaches who have very athletic, running QBs have decided to try to turn them into pocket passers. It's happening in Washington w/ RGIII (though that may be due to his injury) and here in San Fran. However, the Panthers are still doing some of it with Newton. Granted, you want to protect your QB and some defenses have started to figure out the option. However, you can't just completely abandon it or you're limiting your own offense. Why draft a guy like Kaepernick, Vick, Newton, or Griffin if you're just going to make them pocket passers?

Niners got smoked! Love it.

I don't. Even though we should win the division, with KCs cupcake schedule they still prove to be a threat up until we meet them then we see what happens. We need the AFC teams to lose games like this to secure a wild card spot if things really go south somehow.

For all this talk about how much more superior the nfc is, this week the afc is 6-1 in 7 games against them. The only loss being the afc worst vs the nfc best in Jacksonville @ Seattle (probably, its not over yet I guess). Overall in the first 3 weeks the afc is 11-2 vs the nfc with quality wins over Greenbay, Atlanta and the 49ners and the afc west is 4-0 against the nfc east. Its only week 3 but so far this season isn't shaking out like predicted and its fun to watch.

I've noticed this too. It seems like defenders can't defend the long ball anymore. I really am starting to hate PI calls. Make it a 15 yd penalty or something but a spot foul is changing the outcome of games too much. QB's should just keep throwing the long ball and get PI's all day until they stop calling it.

Seems like SF is really struggling as well. I don't know if they are trying to make these running QB's pocket passers but it's changing their offense too much.

This was the primary way the Giants moved the ball last week.
