Actually, I believe the fastest player in the NFL straight line speed is Randall Williams for Dallas. He is like their 4th receiver and kick return guy. He supposedly was clocked at a 4.16 once in a 40 yard dash. Good thing he can't catch a cold eh?

Dante's 67 yd TD reception yesterday is proof that this lil' man can burn!!!!

That is fast. I believe Laverneous Coles was clocked at 4.17 coming out of FSU. Anyone else with #'s?

is it just me or does portis look like he slows down in open field?

Relative to looking for the most open running lane, maybe. Sometimes runners are at a loss when they don't have people to run around and stall when presented with a somewhat open field. I would like to see him let the jets go more. I think I see your point.

for what it is worth,

the now retired darrel Green suppossedly hit the magical sub 4.0 in the forty one time. Can you imagine? 40 yards in under 4 seconds?

Makes me realize how slow I am......and I used to run it in like 4.8 in high school

I have to say he is one of the best defensive players in tthe NFL that deserves more recognition.

Guys quit being biased here...

Williams for Dalls is the fastest man in the NFL. Dante Stallworth is right behind him. Coles for Washington is right there too.

Harrison runs a 4.4.
Portis a 4.29.
Galloway used to run a 4.20.
Vick runs a 4.2
Elway ran a 4.55 once
Steve Young ran a 4.4 once

That is just some I found real fast.

Randall Williams ran a 4.16 this year in spring practice for Dallas making him the FASTEST man in the NFL.

How are we being biased and we voting for people from other teams? I dont believe marvin harrison's quickness can be matched, i have seen williams run and he doesnt look faster than marvin im just going by what i see. Whoever timed williams at 4.16 must have started late!

Return of Lava

and also, 40 yards doesnt make speed some guys need some space to really get going. marvin the kind of guy with quickness but if he gets going he'll blaze anybody!

Yes! Thanks for the #'s. BTW, Vick, a QB that runs a 4.2, DAMN! He is the future.

Let's see what happens....because look at McNabb...not the same QB after his injury.

His problems are more related to his thumb on his throwing hand. ANy QB would have a tough time with that.

I think his leg is fine. It wasn't a Theismann type thing, just a simple fracture, the kind that people get everyday.

Vicks leg was....well, not a Theismann thing either, but not as clean or small as McNabb's

I hope he recovers. I wouldnt want such a young promising career to end so quickly.

Well...Farve played with a bad thumb last night and he played Stellar!

McNab's linguring injury from last season is so obvious! He doesn't have that same zip I saw he had. You have to admit there's a slight decline in his playing.

I'm worry about how Jake Plummer will recover from his foot injury.

Favre was on his game! Did you see that block he threw? His game is bullets and leadership (toughness). Mc Nabb has two major physical injuries to overcome for a Quarterback....(hand) throwing and the legs that make him mobile, his recovery will be longer than people think, hopefully not affecting his confidence, also......Favre does not play the same game....His hand injury is potentially more devastating because he does not have the mobility to fall back on......he does have toughness, though....noone would ? Mc Nabb's toughness, though......I am also worried how Jake's foot injury will affect his overall speed and quickness....

PS...this may all be bullsh*t, because I am drunk as a skunk right now...let me know...

Randy Moss is rumored to be able to run 4 flat. I forget where I read that but I'll see if I can dig it up to give it all the credibilty a rumor could possibly get. But yes, it is a rumor as of now.

A long pass reception doesn't prove anything in regard to speed, in and of itself. Plenty of guys who have made longer plays could be timed with an hour glass.

Antonio Perkins from OU, their KR/PR guy runs a 4.2 40.

Deion ran a 4.18 in his first NFL combine. Turf toe supposedly killed his speed.

Dante Stallworth runs like a 4.23.

Some really fast dudes out there.

In high school (no pun), before I tore up both knees, I ran a 4.55 40. Not bad for a defensive end-outside linebacker!
