what do you guys think about the broncos trading droughns and our 1st round pick to arizona for their 1st round pick, and picking up thomas davis(outstanding safety from georgia), that way we could let go of kennoy.

do you think this will work or not?

hmmm, let me see, droughns is not, will not and will never be worth a 1st let alone a REALLY HIGH first, quit smoking the stuff ricky williams is smoking man

anyways, no way thomas davis is a top 5 pick, hes more like top 15, top 10 would be a stretch, hes good but not great, hes a poor man's sean taylor, he can hit but isnt the greatest covering in the world and he has LB size rather than safety but hes a good player, probably going to detroit since they've got a huge need for him

1st off, arizona doesnt have a top 5 pick, 2nd off he's better than kennedy, and finally he is a cornerback, linebacker, and safety rolled into one, not to mention a playmaker, which we desperately need on defense!!!

he never said droughns was worth a first rounder...he said we could try and get zona's first rounder for droughns AND our first rounder....(which i still dont think they'll take)

and arizona has the eight pick in the draft, not a top 5 pick...

we will get arizonas 1st for droughns and draft derrick thomas. then we are going to sign jerry porter and fred smoot. the colts are also willing to trade manning for jake if we throw in a 4th (and maybe a 5th).

hang on, just saving madden............................

right, back to the real world, hopefully we can get a 2nd for droughns or maybe a 3rd. we need to pick up hawthorne who will likely still be there and re-sign hayward. along with a punter (draft or cheap FA) and sort out who the KR is (maybe draft can help here too) (the ravens got a gr8 KR as an UFA)

Well, several things here....

1) Thomas Davis is not a great coverage safety, which is what we need.
2) Davis is not a top 10 talent, top 20 probably.
3) He is not fluid in his hips and has problems in coverage, the consensus of most teams is to make him an OLB ala Boss Bailey.
4) Arizona coach Denny Green has a history of preferring elite speed RBs on all his teams. Droughns does not have elite speed.

Expect Green to keep the pick and draft Ronnie Brown who does have said speed.

since you all hate this idea of getting davis, who should we pick up instead, a FA, Draft a rookie, resign Kennedy

any ideas?

Sure, shift Herndon to FS. Problem solved. We also already have Nick Ferguson who was very good a year ago, as well as LeSeur (last year's 3rd rounder) in development.

So, I think we are fine at safety. Lynch can play SS.

Walls, Middlebrooks, Alexander, Shaote can all take turns at the other CB position and nickel back.

Our secondary is fine as is.
