I know that everybody is concerned about us re-signing Ben Hamilton, Lenny Walls, and Jeb Putzier, as am I, but don't forget about Mike Leach.

Long snappers are a major part of Special Teams and Leach has been steady since we got him. The Chicago Bears just re-signed their long-snapper to a 6-year contract. Only him and Jason Elam have been consistent on Special Teams for us and I hope Shanahan re-signs him quickly.

You know it man! Holy crap, if you can get a long snapper that you can count on, don't let him go. Just ask the giants and the lions.

Exactly, and we can't afford to lose one of the few players we can count on to perform on Special Teams.

I sure hope they do, he's done good job as LS, and the fact he can play TE makes him more valuable.

too bad he played it at Will an mary, plus i dont think we would use him at te ever, i think wed sign a fa in the season instead of him, not tryin to rip on him, cuz he rocks for Ls, but he jus aint a good nfl te, from wut ive heard/read

He's not here because he's a valuable TE, he's here because he is a valuable long-snapper. He will be re-signed(hopefully) because teams have proven time and time again that you can't just throw anybody in at LS.

Yea, and Shanahan said last off-season that he was making good strides at TE. I think he's a little too small to ever actually play TE in the NFL, but he sure is a good LS.

Yes that is his main job, but in an emergency situation he could play TE if needed and that is something Shanahan likes in his players. He could also punt in an emergancy as well. There was an article on this two years ago when Leach was brought in.

I know, that was my reply to MoFo JoRo. I replied to your post as well.

While we're talking about Special Teams, I think that this P Mariscal that we signed could be a surprise and wind up holding on to the job, but we need a spark in the return game immediately.

Could Q Griffin be the answer???

Do we need to sign someone???

Any thoughts????

Mike Leach played well at TE during the preseason last year!

Jeremy LeSeur, Cornerback from Michigan. Drafted last year in the 3rd round but spent all year on IR. He was the Wolverines' return specialist & put up some respectable numbers in the return game.
The other options I hope Denver looks at are Roscoe Parrish from "The U" and Chad Owens from Hawaii™

Nice, nice.

LeSueur is a game-breaker. He is a special talent. I would love to see us move him to FS so that we can finally have a playmaker that can help the CB's in coverage. He would be a nice option for PR.

My two favorite college teams are Missouri(don't laugh) and the "U" and I think Parrish would be a perfect PR in the NFL. He still needs to add some weight, but he is very elusive. I can't wait until Devin Hester turns pro though, he is going to be something special.

I saw Chad Owens and he has some moves. He will probably either go real late, or not get drafted at all. He would be a nice Undrafted Free Agent pick-up.

I read about this kid Jerome Mathis (http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/playerprofiles/wr/jeromemathis.html) from Hampton that would be a great pick-up. He ran track in college and has good size. He would be a very nice return man.

Also Ronald Bartell (http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/playerprofiles/cb/ronaldbartell.html) from Howard. Looks like a very good prospect.

I never heard of either one, but they sound like pretty good athletes. Maybe take a chance on one of them if they go undrafted. I only say that because of the level of competition they played in.™

Overall I like the bios on both of these guys, but both of them played at Divison I AA so they would have alot of adjustments to make. Mathis having experience in the return game would most definitely be a benefit. The only concern I have about Mathis is that he has character issue according to the bio provided.

Just to defend the players from schools like Hampton, Howard, Jackson State, Grambling, etc.. there can be some special players that come from those schools. Sometimes players from smaller schools make bigger impacts than those with just the big names.

I agree with the concern about Mathis' character problems. That might keep him from being drafted.

Please don't get me wrong there alot good to great players that have come from small schools. Examples: Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Doug Williams, Steve McNair, Joe Green, Jim Kiick. So yes I agree with you, its just that generally there is a greater learning curve for those kids that have played at small schools.

Absolutely. I just hope we solve our return game problems quickly, either from in house or through FA or the Draft.

Good to see that the Broncos are trying to shore up their Special Teams. They re-signed Mike Leach and they are looking into bringing back Keith Burns. Now all we need is for a PR and KR to step up and make an impact.
